My husband thought I couldn't know how to hang clothes on a line when I asked him to install one. When I was a child, learning to hang clothes was a basic lesson for all girls, along with cooking, washing dishes, ironing and sewing. It HAS to save on power bills!

When I was a young child, we spent summers in the Catskills. I recall one time when my mother laid the wet laundry on the grass. The fragrance it gave the dried clothing and linens was transporting. Best to do that with dark colors to avoid grass stains. It also helps if you won't mind an ant or two even after you vigorously shake everything out before taking the things inside. It's a good thing I was too young to think of ants at the time.
