Kidney Stones & Hydration

If you are constantly on the edge of dehydration and only drink when you are thirsty, you are at a much higher risk for kidney stones. If you are in a hot dry climate where you may not notice a sweat because it dries so quickly, make an extra effort to stay hydrated. Drink a cup of Orange Juice or

Cranberry Juice weekly. The high acidity helps dissolve any forming kidney stones.

A quote from a nurse when I was in the hospital with my first case of kidney stones:

"I've had children and I've had kidney stones. I'd rather have two children then one bout with kidney stones."

As a woman who has suffered from 8 kidney stones, I know this is true!! In addition, certain things in my diet were also a factor!

sooo true. ive had 6 kidney stones in the past 5 years! hydration definitely makes a huge difference, as well as staying away from salt, lunch meats and cheeses, and caffeinated drinks.

Two types of stones - one of which is genetic. I have had about 10 stones in the last 18 years.

I had a rash of them when I upped my protein - so I watch that carefully now.

I have my pains ranked - 1. having my youngest 2. my last stone 3.having my oldest (however had my first stone while pregnant with the oldest).

Just drink plenty of water..that flushes the kidneys well.
