Do you have a nice, low calorie recipe for a stew, chili, saucy dish, or topping, but find that once you add in the obligatory noodles or rice for it to sit on, its now way more calories than you wanted? Instead of pasta, try spinach. Instead of rice, try cauliflower rice!
For spinach, just buy the kind that comes fresh in a bag, in the salad section. slit a hole in it and microwave for 2-3 minutes. Drain, place under your fave stew. For "rice", food process raw cauliflower, add 1 T h2o and nuke for 7 min covered. I add a little nooch, salt, pepper, and mushrooms.

For the past 6 months I have been cooking with shirataki noodles instead of regular pasta. Depending on which shirataki noodle you get, they can be anywhere from 0 to 20 cal. per serving instead of the regular 200 cal per serving for regular pasta. They taste like any other pasta...especially love using them with the "Hungry Girl" recipe for the Fettuccine Alfredo and adding chicken or shrimp with tons of veggies!
