I always read about it but never did it - now I can't imagine not doing it! Taking the stairs and parking farther away from store entrances help me get in my 10,000 steps a day!

    It's amazing how we can find a few steps more here and there and have it add up to a large number. In exercise, as in weight loss, a little at a time is a good rule.

    Taking the stairs has had a huge impact for me. I wanted to add more activity into my routine and tried to think of ways to do it. The first thing I realized is that I would have trouble adding much more to my evening exercise routine. Then I considered exercising twice a day. Once in the morning and again in the evening. I knew I would have trouble with consistency there. Then I had to consider getting in more during my day. I have an office on the 6th floor of a building. I started taking the stairs down to go to the bathroom. I increased slowly so now I am going down to the 1st floor a minimum of 4 times per day. It really doesn't take long and I have seen better weight loss. My legs are getting REALLY defined and I can take the stairs anywhere and not get overly winded or tired.

    It really helps a lot to create new healthy habits! I didn't realize how inactive I really was until i started wearing my pedometer. I live in the country, and it's a little hike to the mailbox. I used to stop the car and pick up my mail on the way to the house. Now I've changed that routine. I go straight home and change clothes, then take a little jog to get the mail. This little jaunt adds over 600 steps to my day...with no effort!
