MORE INFORMATION:
I knew I couldn't run far to start. I asked at the running outfitter in my area if there was a tool that would help me walk/run in intervals consistently. This is a WONDERFUL tool. I can set it to walk 1 min/run 2 min or whatever interval I want! Try it out if you need to be "kept honest"! 211
Got the doldrums in your running? Up the running interval or shorten the walk interval to increase your overall pace and jump start your excitement about running again.
MORE INFORMATION:
Start with increasing the time on a mid-week run for 3 or 4 weeks, and add it to the long run over the next few weeks.
With running/walking intervals, I create a play list for my ipod specific for that week/interval in the training plan. That way, I don't have to carry my smartphone with a timer on it or buy a watch that's big enough to see while running. I change pace when the music changes. I even include a tune for a cool-down.
