My newest idea (been doing it for two days now) is everytimg a commercial comes on TV, I HAVE to get OUT of my chair...and believe me folks, that in itself is a struggle. Then I have to stay on my feet, and moving until the show comes back on. WHEW...

Seems easy enough and maybe it will get easier. My next goal is to get down on the floor, and pick myself back up during the commercials. Again, that alone, for me, is a struggle...but it should get easier as I go. The main thing is "Don't just SIT THERE!!!!"

    Thanks for sharing. Keeps one from becoming a couch pootato. I disconnected my cable and no longer watch the TV. I now spend more time visiting friends in the evening. lol

    I do this too. The commercials seem to last longer than the program that i was attempting to watch.

    most programs have more commercials than they do programming, so that is a great way to get extra exercise in. I'm going to have to work on that, too. thanks for sharing.

I think this is a great idea, one which i started myself by doing bahookie(butt) clenches every time i could, my next move is to do press-ups in commercial adverts.

    I too use commercials....I keep 3 lb weights by the couch and do arm excerises during the commercials getting rid of those "batwings" I have! emoticon

    I do this too--walk around living room & kitchen--sometimes I do arm curls with light weights or as an alternative I use my resistance bands.

    This is a great way to get in some extra steps if you are working on the 10,000 steps a day challenge. Even just walking back and forth in the TV room makes those steps add up. Good for you for adding exercise!

    You can even do sitting-down exercises during the show as long as you're not annoying anyone else with an elbow in the side or whatnot.
