My son gets very distracted when doing schoolwork. It used to drive me crazy when he would be looking around the room, hopping from one foot to the next, even climbing on top of the table when I was trying to teach him something.
I finally figured out that if I give him something to do with his hands, something to mess with, it keeps him focused. So we have a "fiddle box". It has pieces of modeling clay, paper clips, cotton balls, a slinky, some pipe-cleaners, etc. He has something to play with and he pays attention!

I bought cat litter in boxes - I had 160 lbs to lose or 8 - 20 lb boxes. I have already lost 1 & 1/2 boxes. Every time I get discouraged, I pick up 1 of those boxes and feel how much I have lost. I am currently 10 lbs from losing a second box. Wow to pick two boxes up and feel that weight loss!
