I have come to call my working out my "selfish" time. It is the time I set aside for just me, to focus on me, to better me. While it benefits my whole family, I truly am doing this for me. This outlook helps me focus and remember what is important.
MORE INFORMATION:
It helps me to clear my head, and work around problems and obstacles and be free from cell phones, computers, instant messaging, etc. It is a place where I can clear my mind, heart, and soul and when I come back home I feel so refreshed and proud that I took the time for me!

Don't think of it as 'selfish'...think of it as 'self-care'. You deserve as much respect & care & concern as those you care for & about! Self time is awesome!

I agree we must set time aside for ourselves. It took me awhile to learn how truly important this is, but once I started setting aside my workouts as 'me' time I have felt so much better both in mind and body.

Agreed. I would call it "me time". I think "selfish" has too many negative connotations. But whatever works for you!

Selfish I think NOT
Being selfish is NOT selfish. I have come to realize that I am WORTH taking care of. If taking care of myself is wrong - then as they say - I DON'T want to be right.

Every step forward IS a step. Eventually they all add up to changes. MY CHOICE.
All of my life, I've put others before me. I can't help it, caring comes naturally. I love helping others, and when I can't, it bothers me. Well, my daughter brought it to my attention that I was helping everyone but myself, and that she thought I was being selfish for not doing things for myself. Selfish? Me? Well I promised her that I would make time for ME, and I'm glad I did. I'm starting to do some of the things I love, and it feels good. I still help others, but I'm making time for me too.
Exercise really helps and when clothes start fitting better(looser) then that motivates me to keep up with the exercise daily. Be selfish and take time for yourself and do this for you not anyone else. 381
