I hate to exercise, so what motivates me is to walk with a purpose in mind. For example: a walk to the corner store to pick up fruits, armed with my back pack to carry my purchases = 40 mins round trip. Beats walking on the treadmill anytime!
I've spent too much money on gym memberships already. I always have an excuse not to go: too tired, it's cold outside, have a headache, and so on. I even got myself a gym buddy but she too was discouraged. So now I walk any time I can. I even got myself a pedometer. Counting my steps really helps.

A few years ago I used to walk 2 - 3 hours a day. Of course, I lived in Chicago, did not have a car and was too cheap to pay for public transportation. BUT I made that choice also. Meaning, when I had to go somewhere within walking distance (grocery store, friend's house, church, work, etc) I made a choice every morning to walk instead of take the bus, get a ride, etc. It was so much easier and exciting than the treadmill.
Once I started walking to my destination the time flew by. AND once I walked there it made no sense to me to NOT walk back. So that meant daily trips to the grocery store, etc. But it seems like so much less of an effort when you are walking to a destination as opposed to using gym equipment. Try it!
I live on a country lane. Measured distance to and from mailbox is 1/2 mile. Also to get to my friend at the other end of the lane is 1/2 mile . I do this in the evening when I couldn't get to the treadmill or gym. The weather is nicer now and its much easier to do.
I always keep a granola bar and a bottle of water in the center console of my car. It serves two purposes. Purpose one: if I'm running errands and I get hungry or thirsty I won't have to stop and get something unhealthy. Purpose two: if I get stranded in a Michigan snow storm, I know I won't starve to death right away. Totally a win-win.211
