Secrets of Success

Marking Duplicate Items

I shop frequently at Costco, so I buy in bulk. If I get anything that comes in a multi pack, I make all but the last item with a "HR" in marker. The "HR" means I have a replacement somewhere. Works for stuff like ketchup and canned goods that I buy multiples of on sale. emoticon

  • I've recently embarked on a mission to declutter and simplify my life. I've made a rule: I can not bring anything else into the house unless something else, preferably a similar item is going out. I don't buy shoes unless I'm getting rid of a pair. I've found that I already have more than I need of most things and often buy other items for the wrong reasons. - by HONEYDRIPPER

Brilliant idea! I wish I had known about it before I bought the 9th jar of mayo for the cupboard!
I'm getting a marker tomorrow and labeling all those extras.

  • Maryellen thank you for the tip! I usually mark the date on that I bought something, but have never marked anything to indicate that "this is the last one" Thank you emoticon - by LIZZIE13
