On grocery day, I do the prep work for the week. Chop onions, cut up veggies for snacks, weigh portions, cut up fruit , etc. I put these items in containers and have them handy when it is meal time. Makes it easier to prepare meals and keeps me from eating the wrong thing at the wrong time.

I'm working on this idea. I have "Prepare and Chop Fruits and Veggies 3X per week" listed as an "Other Goal" here on Spark People. I do as much as I can and bag it up or put it in containers. That way less rots. I find that if I only do it once a week, I may not use it in time.

This is something I also do. I cut my lettuce with a plastic knife and wash and spin. Then I put into a ziplock bag and squeeze as much air out as possible. Peppers I cut in half and cut out all the seeds and pith. I then wash and store in ziplock bags. I do this with all my vegetables. They last at least 1 week this way. I can then get out the bags and my salad is ready without chopping and washing. I think the secret is getting as much air out as possible.

how do you keep your cut things from going bad faster? When I do this I seem to end up with yucky veges after only 2 days. .. Certainly, can't get a weeks worth of anything prepped....But I like the idea in theory! :o)

That is a fantastic idea. I love the idea of getting it all out of the way on grocery day, and the containers will be more organized in my fridge! Thanks!

Mental Preparedness
I have a problem with temptation, so I prepare myself daily that I will NOT eat bad food options (i.e. stop for a soda or something to eat from fast food). This way, I am prepared to drive right past and not stop!
As I am preparing meals, I am moving and cleaning behind myself. I want to sit down and enjoy the meal and having the kitchen clean as I eat - helps lower the stress and anxiety I feel. After I grab my water and sit down - dinner is a joy!41
After making 4 smalls meals a routine, I realised an easy way for me to get in my water is to have 16 oz/2 cups while I am preparing each meal. Not only do I always remember my water, but I am less hungry and tuck away fewer calories at each meal.
