If I start to feel like I am getting in a snacking mood, I ask myself, "Why do I want something to eat right now?" I heard this somewhere, and I wish I credit the proper person for it but, I have used it ever since. "If hunger isn't the problem, then food isn't the solution!"

I've learned to view food "as nutrition". As a means to a nutritional end. This is a huge"reframe" for me; food used to be about pleasure, comfort, and distraction. Food is now about NUTRITION.... I have learned to find pleasure, comfort, and distraction elsewhere....but food can still be fun!
I now THINK before I eat. I ask myself "Why am I eating this? For what purpose? And am I actually hungry?" If I am actually hungry, I plan food around my nutritional needs for the day and avoid "junk" foods except for the occasional splurge.
After gaining about 49lbs from a divorce, stressed, holidays and thyroids problems, I was not feeling health and was having low self esteem issues. The Dr. that is treading for my thyroid problem got me motivated to start loosing weight because of all the issue that come withbeing over weight and having thyroid problems.
