Record Your Debit Card Usage

I don't carry my checkbook with me much of the time and I use my debit card for purchases.
I got an extra check register and record all debit card purchases, or withdrawals from the ATM, in this.
When I get home I set down and record all the transactions so I don't have to keep track of all the receipts.
This has made balancing my checkbook a snap.

Use your credit card like a debit card

I've always used my credit cards like debit cards. If I don't have the money, I don't charge it. Credit cards have other benefits such as cash back and extra protection, but they don't have to be used to rack up debt. Doing this has kept me free of credit card debt.
