Avoid impulse buying. Before you purchase something ask yourself if this is something you need or just want. If it is a want than forgo the purchase until a later date to see if you still want it. Search for a coupon and get the cheapest price. Impulse buying adds up.

I do this too, and if I decide I must have an item, I find out if I can get it cheaper online (sometimes from the same store, like Target.com). - by BIOLUMINESCENT
  • it is so easy to over buy . It looks good . I always wanted that . many reasons . if we can wait until the next time i go to the store and if i still want it and they still have it then i can get it . have lost many things by waiting but have save a few nickels . - by SUGARSMOM2

Excellent advice! I overeat and over purchase. I am working on my new goals to asking myself, "Do I really need this or want to eat this?"
    Thanks!

Distinguishing between "wants" and "needs" is not alway easy -- but by resisting the urge to simply buy what I "want", I am able to save the money and spend it on something I "need" (or save up for those special items I really "want"). - by SHASUN
  • So true!
If I wait for a few minutes before actually purchasing the item, it gives me time to reflect on if I really NEED it or if I really WANT it.
If it's a want, back on the shelf, baby!
