This Sparked Me!

When I came up with my name-MOMWANTSNOWAIST- it had to do with the fact that when I was raised as a child,we were taught to NOT WASTE food and eat what was on our plates. Now that I AM A MOM, I find that I STILL have that OLD HABIT of not wanting to have my food, my toddler's food, etc. go to ...

MORE INFORMATION:
waste,so I'll EAT IT!! NOT a good HABIT~~ That food goes DIRECTLY to MY WAIST!!! And then, what GOOD is that?! So, I remind myself AT EVERY MEAL, it is OK to leave food ON THE PLATE and only eat to ALMOST FULL. THAT is a HEALTHY HABIT and one I want to KEEP! And to NOT FINISH anyone else's food!!!

Same here! what's worse is we have taught our sons, now 18 & 16, "no dessert until you've eaten ALL your dinner". So we've changed our mind set with our 6 year old daughter, after she asked me "Since I don't have to finish everything on my plate, why don't you put less food on it?" From the mouths of babes!! One of the best benefits from doing that, She eats all of her dinner, and mommy doesn't feel the need to finish it for her emoticon

So true! and like the other comment, no dessert or drink until you finished your food either! I plan to change that when I start a family; I'm also still working on ME. Thanks for this tip.

this is why most moms start putting weight on and as the family grows so does the MOM... then the grandchildren come along and it just continues.. My mom taught us to taste the food with our noses.. If we tasted while we cooked we will have eaten our meal before it was served... we also were taught to only take what we will eat. To this day this is how I taught my children and grandchildren. Unfortunatly we always had a nice desert and this is my downfall I need something sweet to top off my meal. I'm working on this,.. its my main struggle..

I too was taught to "finish my plate". When I had my daughter nearly 28 years ago I promised her as well as myself I would not do the same thing. I came up with the motto "TO WAIST OR TO WASTE". It worked. While we do have other issues with food to overcome - that is not one of them

We are more important than the food. In time you won't waste food, you will just put out smaller portions for yourself and for your children.
