Think of that empty hand as where the bowling ball should be. Place the other hand on the refrig door and open it. now with the bowling ball less hand, swing down and touch the shelf that is most natural for you, your movements and the refrig. That is the shelf and the spot where your water bottles
should be placed, on their side, filled with cold water like the bowling pins would lay. Somehow when your boringly looking for something to eat, that natural act of grabbing something, this time the water bottle might save you some calories.

It works for me, and perhaps it'll work for you. I eat 4 meals a day, and for each meal, I make sure to have at least 2 glasses of water; I just take a sip between each bite. By the end of the day, I am able to meet (or go beyond) my water requirement.
Having a 16 oz water bottle helps.
