Putting my flour, sugar, brown sugar, pasta, rice, flax and bran in clear containers clears up space on my shelves. It's easier to stack Tupperware than it is to stack individual odd sized bags and boxes.
MORE INFORMATION:
This has a way of snowballing... It gives me a visual of what I have of each, so I don't buy more and this prevents clutter.
I have less boxes, from less places, which creates less dirt and grime on my shelves.
My clean time is less for wiping down the pantry shelves.

Organize Plastic Storage By Labelling The Shelves!
In order to keep my Tupperware & other plastic storage in a structured place [and to help my hubby put it where it belongs!],I labelled the different shelves in the cupboard [yes-we have one cupboard devoted to storage of plastic!] according to SHAPE. The bottom shelf has all the circular shaped containers, the middle shelf has the squares/rectangles and the top shelf has all the liquid containers. It has helped in the ORGANIZATION OF PLASTIC WARE & helped my hubby assist me in putting it away!
I hand wash plastic containers and air dry them in a dish drainer. They dry quickly. By not having them in the dishwasher, the dishes, pots, pans and flatware get completely dry instead of the water clinging to the plastic and therefore keeping tops of glasses and cups from drying. (I suppose I could wash the plastic in the dishwasher and take them out to air dry when the wash cycle is done, but then I'd have to pay attention to where the washer is in its cycle.)
