Mix the the music on your iPod play list. There is nothing like going from Norah Jones' "Don't Know Why" to K.C. and the Sunshine Band's Boogie Shoes to change a pace. From the first note your whole body perks up and starts moving to the beat.

getting a dog was one of the best things i did to help me exercise more because even if i cant be bothered to exercise i know that at least 3 times a day my little fella needs his walkies so i always end up walking at least 1 hour a day 30
Arrange a playlist for walking based on beats per min in each song. Helps me keep up a great pace while enjoying music I love.
Don't forget to add some real motivating titles to the list. "Don't stop till you get enough" and "Jam" by MJ. "twenty Five Miles" -Edwin Star. There are several song databases only that DJ's use listing BPM of songs.
Exercise is a huge positive influence in my life. I hike and ride my bicycle. I do a little bit of yoga. This summer, I started training for distance running and it has been amazing. I followed the couch to 5k running program and now I am on week three of gateway to 8k. It is fun setting new goals to challenge yourself and when you meet them, talk about a self esteem boost. I plan on running a 5k race in october. I haven't run a race since high school, so I'm excited.
If you think you would like to start running, and never have tried, you should check out "Couch to 5k" on the internet. Another great tool is the Podrunner intervals and DJ beatsmith. You can download podcasts with music that goes with the couch to 5k plan. 224
