If you are not happy about who you are before you start a diet/exercise plan, you won't be happy when you're thin either. Counseling prior to my signing up for SparkPeople helped me more than anything else because I was able to conquer the inner demons before working on the outside.

    I agree. Journaling has really helped my with my self esteem issues. When I see my negative self talk in black and white, I see it for the lie it is. I'm practicing writing about what I have accomplished after I spew the negative stuff.

    I have to agree. I have the worst self-worth and self-esteem in the world. Even when I lost the weight the first time, I was still not happy with myself. THAT'S why I gained it all back and then some. I think the only way to go about this (personally) is to go get some counseling! Great idea! Thanks for posting!
