I am doing way better with my walking program since I started walking indoors with the walking videos on Dr. Oz's RealAge site. I still walk outdoors in comfortable weather but with indoor walking the heat, rain, wind, mean dogs, traffic, and blisters pose no obstacles.
The program is in two parts of approximately 15 minutes each and is adequate but not grueling--the equivalent of a brisk 2-mile walk. It also requires very little floor space--I do it in my air-conditioned hallway. Plus, the video provides me friendly company and appropriately-paced music.
