I hate to match socks. Solution: I went to JoAnn's & bought a package of 200 large safety pins. Now I take off my socks & I pin them together (passing through the sock once per sock) and throw them in the hamper. By pinning loosely they are able to be washed, dried & put away without matching!

I keep a bowl of safety pins in the area where I take my socks off. I pin the two socks together and drop them in a net bag on the cloths hamper. One bag is for dark and one is for light. After the laundry is done, I fold them over with the pin and put them in the drawer. All matching is done.
To save time on matching socks from laundry, first make sure mates go in laundry together by folding their cuffs together. Then when I put them in the washer, I un-cuff them and hook them with a clothespin. Once they come out of dryer, they are already matched. 345
Large wooden clothes pins work best. Plastic will melt and the smaller pins don't seem to hold up. It's a little noisy in the dryer, but SO worth it when you have 4 kids x 2 socks each ......
