No More Elevators!

No matter where I am, or where I'm going, I only take the stairs. At the airport with luggage? Stairs! At work on the 6th floor? Stairs! At the mall, movie theater, stadium? STAIRS! It was hard at first but now I don't even think about it.

Swap the music!

Turn down the audio on your workout video and play your own workout music instead. It helps if you have built a playlist of songs with a good paced tempo to set the rhythm for your workout.

LAZY DAY Workout

We all have those days, every now and then, when we JUST. DON'T. FEEL. LIKE. IT. It, being anything---especially working out. Instead of doing nothing at all, do a short, 15 minute workout circuit.

Choose exercises that engage small and large muscle groups simultaneously, for maximum calorie burn. For example, with proper form, do as many kettlebell swings as you can for 60 seconds. Rest for 10 seconds, then on to the next one. You can even make it a HIIT circuit. 15 minutes is better than zero

Go for a walk in sun light and fresh air.

Whenever I feel that I have problems out of control and find myself filled with negative thoughts I go for a walk in sun light and fresh air. Imagine that you are throwing the negative energy you have inside. Raise you head high to feel the sun light in your face and get fresh air in. Then run to break the stress. After that try to think and find solutions for your problems. Even if you didn't find a solution you will find yourself have the power to face it.

Need motivation to workout?

If you find you have a hard time finding the motivation to workout on your scheduled days or just at all try this! Buy a calender and put it up in your room or where you would like. Write you workout schedule on there, go do it, and when you come back put a smiley face showing how completing that workout made you feel. The next time you feel like skipping a work out look at the smiley face and it will remind you how good you felt after finishing it. And why skip something that makes you happy? :)

What's healthy in the Junk Food You are craving after workout?

I've noticed that after a good workout, when I am suddenly "craving" some junk food like ice cream or something cheese-y etc, if I take a moment to think about what is in the food that might be soothed with a healthier substitute. For ice cream, I usually find a small container of Greek yogurt with fruits or some nuts satisfy my craving and give me good nutrients for my muscles after the workout.

Tracking exercise without a computer

Sometimes a computer or internet is readily available. Create your routine and print out a checklist. Once printed laminate the paper to keep it fresh looking. Now you can use an erasable marker to check off your exercises during the day to add later. Great for when your on the go!

I take Criticism as Motivation

Every time my husband, close family members or friends criticise my fat gain, I do not get disappointed; instead, their comment increases my willpower. I take it as a challenge and run 15 minutes extra on the treadmill. I have been able to increase my stamina and strength for the workouts this way.

Grab bag of DVDs

Over the years, I have acquired quite a few workout DVDs. Well, to have variety my routine and not get bored, I've decided to do a "grab bag" of workout DVDs. Just round up all of the DVDs, get a bag, and shake it up. Pick out a dvd and that will be the workout of the day. after you're done, set it to the side instead of putting it back in the bag so you won't accidentally pick it again. repeat each day until the bag is empty and then start over!

Trick Yourself into Exercising When You Don't Feel Like It

Set your goal to just work out for at least 10 minutes - and do it even when you don't feel like it. It's only 10 minutes, right?!? It's not going to kill you!

For me - when exercising I get energized. If I trick myself (even consciously) into JUST getting started - that 10 minutes can easily stretch to an hour or more. On those days that I just can't get with it - at least I get 10 minutes in.

Pushing on to complete my workout

When struggling to complete a workout, I break it down into small chunks...so for instance when running I tell myself I will get through the next 2 1/2 minutes or even a minute before moving onto the next few minutes. I find that I can push myself that bit further as 2 mins doesn't seem as daunting as 20.

When I don't want to workout? I put on my workout clothes

I can't remember where I learned this, but putting on my workout clothes when I don't feel like working out somehow gives me just the boost I need to get me out the door. It works 99% of the time. So keep those tanks, tees, sports bras and biking shorts ready to go. Once you're dressed the reasons not to workout suddenly disappear.

Vision Board & GOALS

I "vision collaged" my back of the door mirror, this way I "SEE" it all the time!!! Everyday, sometimes several times a day! Foods, Exercises, Physically fit bodies, places I want to go and things I want to do!! Anything that is something to strive for or look forward to I put it on the edge of that mirror. SO when I do that one last check in the mirror before I sweep out the door I know what I want in LIFE!!! EVerything I want to live for is there: Prayer, Familiy, Friends.Healthy Lifestyle!

Path of MOST Resistance

Honestly, everyone has those days when we just don't feel like lifting a finger, much less going to the gym. I've found that on those days, a 10 minute session with my resistance band keeps my metabolism churning and calories burning!

I Made My Vacuuming Into A Mini Workout...

It's fifteen minutes before I have to pick my husband up, one of the grankids is scurrying about and the house still needs vacuuming. I stand on my tip toes and suck in my stomach and start moving the vacuum. Wow I had a workout for sure. Calf raises, crunches and moving the furniture for my arms. All this from vacuuming. There are so many mini workouts we can do throughout the day without people even recognizing it. Sometimes family just wants our attention and the chores are overwhleming.

Go to the Gym!

I pack my clothes for the gym every single day when I go to work. That way, even on days I don't want to go, I don't have an excuse. I pack my clothes the night before and put my gym bag by my purse by the door--I won't forget it. When I leave work I have no excuse not to go--I don't have to go home first--I have everything I need.

Get dressed in workout clothes on days off

On my days off from work, I dress in my workout clothes first thing in the morning. It's easier to just "do it" without having to change again.

Off the couch, on the floor..

Determined to stay off the couch in the evening after a long day and exercise, I found if I sit on the floor I end up doing all my Calisthenics, yoga poses and stretching, while hanging with hubby and enjoying our tv show.

Just walk or 10 minutes...

Seriously this works every time. If I just don't feel like hitting the GYM I tell myself, "I'm just going to walk or do 10 minutes". Toss on your work out clothes and shoes & go out the door. I hit the gym and I am always excited that I pull through and do an amazing workout/run. I am NEVER beating myself up for going only if I don't at all!

No time to exercise...make it a family affair!

I am a mother of 7 children, and I don't always have time to get in a workout. So instead of skipping, I take the kids and off we go! Sometimes we explore a neat trail, or we make an adventure by going on a hike. Whatever we do, we not only are ALL getting in a good workout, but we're spending time together as a family! And I'm teaching my children good habits as well! It's a win all around!! :-)

My motivation page on Pinterest!

I follow fitness blogs on Tumblr and board on Pinterest to keep me motivated. When I find something I like on Tumblr I post it on my Pinterest so when I feel like I need some motivation I just go there and see a wall of reasons why I work out and eat healthy. Works great!

Sneaking in Workouts

For me, it's really hard to find enough time to do a full 30 minute workout. What I do is break up my workouts throughout the day -- I do 10 minutes here, 5 minutes here... It really helps me get in my workouts and still have time to do everything else!
