I "vision collaged" my back of the door mirror, this way I "SEE" it all the time!!! Everyday, sometimes several times a day! Foods, Exercises, Physically fit bodies, places I want to go and things I want to do!! Anything that is something to strive for or look forward to I put it on the edge of that mirror. SO when I do that one last check in the mirror before I sweep out the door I know what I want in LIFE!!! EVerything I want to live for is there: Prayer, Familiy, Friends.Healthy Lifestyle!
Determined to stay off the couch in the evening after a long day and exercise, I found if I sit on the floor I end up doing all my Calisthenics, yoga poses and stretching, while hanging with hubby and enjoying our tv show.
Whenever i'm getting off track or even when i'm feeling a little bored I look over my old blogs. Almost all of them give me a more positive perspective or solutions to what I want to tweak or change. Should I not feel more empowered or motivated to a new direction then I hit some of my SP friends blogs.
If you are going on a trip and need some healthy food to keep you going, sometimes trail mix and fruit won't cut it. I found a company called Go Picnic (they are online too) which makes organic (even vegan) lunchables for adults!
When you fly, print out a copy of your flight itinerary and slip it into the pocket of your bag before you check it. If your bag tag falls off, the airline will be able to route your bag using the information on your itinerary, and you will be less likely to arrive at your destination without your luggage.
When traveling to hotels, most of us don't take a toothbrush holder with us to use day-to-day....you can create one by using one of the styrofoam coffee cups.
If you belong to a Y or a national fitness center, check to see if you can use your membership at the one near your destination or choose a hotel with a fitness center or pool. Otherwise, take lightweight stretchy-straps with you. Walk or run laps around a motel parking lot or march in place in your room. Shadow box, stretch, bend, lift water bottles, do windmills, pushups, arm circles, or twist at the waist. With bad knees, I can't do pushups, but I can push off a wall.... (more)
Bring snacks: carrots, celery, broccoli, grapes, berries, apples, wheat crackers, hummus, low fat cheese. If you have to eat out, split a meal, or get a sandwich and salad and share with someone else. Always ask for dressing on the side.
When out & about, it's hard to take actual lemon juice with you to flavor water. TrueLemon packets are crystallized lemon juice and are individual-portion-sized. Just dump 1/2-1 packet in your water & you've got lemon water. Usually find it in juice aisle next to lemon juice. Helps when not near a water filter.
When I'm driving long distance, I take 5-10 minutes to do some cardio moves after I've come back from the restroom. It helps keep me from stiffening too much after hours of driving, burns calories, and keeps me alert at the wheel! Don't use cardio as a replacement for sleep, though!
Summer vacation! A fun getaway! A calorie restricted diet?
WHen I am traveling, I make sure I bring a supply of healthy things along - a container of protein powder to add to cereal, oatmeal or as a drink, protein bars (Pure Protein), nuts, and dried fruits to name a few. WHen there are not enough healthy choices available I can turn to these items.
Most people know to look for coupons online for grocery store purchases, but I also check online for special codes to use for hotel rooms and car rentals. These are codes that don't require any certain memberships. I am already a member of hotel clubs, and use these codes to save more money.
How often do you see a meal plan that calls for a smoothie as your mid-morning or afternoon snack? How do you do this without lugging your blender to work? Prepare it the night before, place it in the freezer. When you get to work, place it in the freezer (if your work has one).
While on a cruise ship if you don't have knee of leg problems make sure you stick to one rule..... the ELEVATOR does not exist. Take the stairs, it's the easiest way to counter act all the food you'll be eating on the ship.
When I travel, I prefer eating sliced apples. So before I leave, I use a apple corer/slicer. Then I put a rubber band (like from asparagus) around the apple keeping the slices in their original place. This holds the apple together all day and prevents the slices from turning brown without additives.
Eating a healthy breakfast keeps me on track the rest of the day. Because I start off full I don't overeat later.
Take the anxiety out of weight loss by planning in advance what you'll be eating for the day, and having your foods available. You won't be stuck in a situation where you have to grab something that's not going to fit into your diet--stay satisfied and nourished!
