It's simple really - just - USE IT! You joined the site so take advantage of the information, teams, advice. Log in, read the blogs, interact with other members, make friends. Most of all, though, USE THE ADVICE! Don't just read it - or put your settings to 'no mail' - the more reminders you get to stay on track the more likely you are to do so.
Sound counter-intuitive? Not at all. When you join SP Teams related to your interests, hobbies, lifestyle, etc. you bond with people who are passionate about the same things you are, and those 'virtual' friendships will motivate you, lift your spirits, and keep you positive! Social support is key!
When you join a team, you join a whole community of people that can help keep you on track when you feel like you're falling behind. Teams also set fun goals and challenges to keep you exercising and eating healthy foods!
Nothing keeps my hands busier than participating in a really strong team. -- Visiting members' pages, leaving comments, completing challenges, reading blogs, and participating in discussions gives me the support I need to make it through the day -- plus my occupied hands stay out of the chip bag!
When I need a boost, a kick or a hug, I log on to Spark people and holler for help! There's always a Spark friend, a team member, or sometimes a complete stranger (if there is such a thing on SP) online to offer a word of encouragement.
