Straight Talk Android Phones

Straight Talk now sells Android phones that can do everything you need it to do so why pay that $160.00 bill to your phone company when it only cost $45.00 for unlimited Straight Talk, talk, text, data and video. They even have two different Androids that you can make payments on for $25.00 a month to purchase the phone. Straight Talk is run by Verison and where I live that covers everywhere. For $6.00 a month I can protect my phone and get it replaced if it is damaged or gets wet. Switch now!

Vision Board & GOALS

I "vision collaged" my back of the door mirror, this way I "SEE" it all the time!!! Everyday, sometimes several times a day! Foods, Exercises, Physically fit bodies, places I want to go and things I want to do!! Anything that is something to strive for or look forward to I put it on the edge of that mirror. SO when I do that one last check in the mirror before I sweep out the door I know what I want in LIFE!!! EVerything I want to live for is there: Prayer, Familiy, Friends.Healthy Lifestyle!

Off the couch, on the floor..

Determined to stay off the couch in the evening after a long day and exercise, I found if I sit on the floor I end up doing all my Calisthenics, yoga poses and stretching, while hanging with hubby and enjoying our tv show.

Freeze Herbs and Other Fresh Seasonings

Do you like using fresh herbs in your cooking, but never use a whole pack? Waste money on those jars of ready chopped seasoning?

Save money and time by:

1) Preparing
Fresh Herbs - Finely chop
Fresh Garlic - Finely chop/press/grate/shred
Fresh Ginger - Finely chop/grate/shred
Citrus Rind - Finely chop/grate/shred
Stock & Sauces - Remove any surface flotsam/fat

2) Press/pour into an ice cube tray and freeze

3) Transfer to baggies and label before storing in the freezer

Review and Tweak the Plan~

Whenever i'm getting off track or even when i'm feeling a little bored I look over my old blogs. Almost all of them give me a more positive perspective or solutions to what I want to tweak or change. Should I not feel more empowered or motivated to a new direction then I hit some of my SP friends blogs.

Iceberg Lettuce, How I Love Thee...

Iceberg lettuce has a bad reputation. Which is a shame! So, here are some reasons why you should invite iceberg back into your healthy eating plan.
1. its inexpensive
2. mostly water (= hydration)
3. mostly fiber (= more fiber!! -wink, wink!)
4. adds bulk to regular salads (i.e. more food!! yay!)
5. neutral taste (you went to the trouble to make your own salad dressing you should at least taste it!) AND
6. memories (lunch box sandwiches! yum!)

My little secret

Well I guess for me it's giving back to the one who owns all. I do this by giving ten percent to my church ...which is giving back to God what he has blessed me with. Then I save ten percent for myself in an emergency fund. Sometimes that ten% can be small . When my pay is larger so is my tithe. He is always Faithful. emoticon

Better Citizen's

We have three checking accounts with Citizen's bank for free by utilizing multiple withdraws to another bank savings account. We utilize ING Direct for a savings account. Signing up for GreenSense through Citizen's we get 10 cents per transaction that is not a check. We make about $20/month by doing what we already do! Divide withdraws or payments up into smaller amounts to get more money/month!

Declare Your Inner Independence

Today break free of the power you have given others to make or break your life. While others may invite, suggest, guide or influence you, ultimately you alone must live with the choices you make & so you must choose in accordance with your heart’s guidance. If you have given any person power over your life, take back your power now. No one can hurt you & no one can save you unless you ordain it.
Today declare a revolution of consciousness. Oust the old dictators of self-doubt, attack thoughts,

1/2 that portion...Break
fast,
Lunch, Dinner

Half that portion! I half the portion of whatever i'm about to eat. If it can't be halved without wasting part then I don't eat it Example: Sandwich you can half & save for later...cookie you would have to share if a person is available or throw the half away if you have no one to share it with. IF I would have to waste it then I don't eat it. Planning!

Great gift for kids

A few years ago, a friend of mine made each grandchild a jar she had decorated to match the child's interests. For their birthdays, she gave a jar with change amounting to the dollar amount of their ages. Of course they could spend the money if they wished, but she told them that if they saved the money & added more to the jar, any time she visited she would double the money & deposit it in a savings account for them. Some children saved nothing, but... (click title for more info)

Freecycle.org

This organization is based on recycling useful goods within your community. Don't need something but it's too valuable to throw out? Post it! I've furnished my apartment with this site when I was low on finances and have since donated old clothes that don't any longer since the weight loss.

Record savings and debt totals monthly

Keep 2 running monthly totals ---one for debt & one for savings. Use a notebook, ledger, spreadsheet, or money-managing software (such as Quicken) to record your totals on the last day of each month. Your goal should be to have less debt & more savings every single month. It is so motivating to see savings/investments grow and/or debt go down. Once I started to do this, it inspired me to put as much as possible into savings each month and/or pay more.... (click title for more info)

"Save" Money every time you write a check

When ever you record the amount of check you write, put in the correct amount of hte check but when you subtract round it up to the nearest $5.00. For instance, if check amount is for 3.98, subtract $5.00. You'd be surprised at how fast this adds up. One year I had enoughsaved to take my 2 daughters on a week vacation.

Thrifty Style

I went thrift store shopping and was amazed by the enormous amount of holiday items out on sale. You should check out the bargains before they get away. This is a great way to find handmade crafts, books (cookbooks), toys, and clothes to keep or give away.

Save money in this order:

1. Emergency fund (for if you lose your job) ---it should be six months of take home pay (more if you are married, even more if you have children.)
2. 401k ---up to the llmit your employer matches your own contributions. (That's "free' money from your employer and should not be passed up.)
3. Roth IRA ---you will not use pre-tax $ for this, but when you withdraw your money, you will pay absolutely no taxes, not on what you contributed and not on capital gains or dividends.. (continued)
