Much of the collected "wisdom" about exercise is questionable. One study says one thing while another study refutes it. So much of the exercise world is dominated by competitive sports or the profit motive. Neither of these spheres have the well-being of the individual as their central motivation. Therefore, exercise your OWN way. Feel free to ignore the advice and rules. Move at your own pace, in your own way, when it makes sense to you. Listen to your own mind and body.
At the beginning of the week, I put $10 in a glass vase in my bathroom counter. I keep it if I exercise 5 times a week; each session must last at least 45 minutes and make me break a sweat. If I don't make my goal, I lose money: I only get to keep $1 for each workout during the week.

Always do what's best for YOU!
We're all different. For some people, weighing every day works best. For others, they only weigh once a month. Some people swear by working out first thing in the morning, while for others it works best in the evening. I do what works for me, not what other people tell me I should be doing.
