Write down what you are grateful for

Write down a list of things you're grateful for and keep it someplace where you'll see it often. When you focus on the things you're thankful for, you'll have less time to focus on the negatives.

Every day is a new opportunity

Every day is a NEW day! The best proverb is "Fall down 7 times, stand up 8." Remember that no matter what each day brings, success, or failure, the next day is a new opportunity to begin again! Don't beat yourself, but celebrate new beginnings!

Love yourself

I wrote a blog recently that truly summarizes my new philosophy.

Be kinder to yourself than you would be to others! You are the only you that you have! Don't worry about the scale, but whether you made a plan and stuck to it. Did you do something good for you today! That is way more important than any number on a scale or blood pressure cuff! Keep your streaks and be proud of the little things you do!!!! emoticon emoticon Cheer yourself on!!!

Keep Positive and gain support

Over the last 5 months I have lost 10 kg which makes me feel great but I was only able to do it because I kept positive. It really does help and if you are able to get family, friends, collegues to support you to then that is even better.

You are the only one that can truly say you're ugly.

Don't ever let other people or worse, your negative views of yourself cause you to be sad and depressed. Completely ignore what others say and always give yourself reasons to love and value you, no matter where you are in your journey.

How can you make healthy habits stick?

Try this cool mental motivator:

Predict you will eat better and work out more next week and you probably will, according to a recent study in the Journal of Consumer Research. The reason is that once you turn wishful thinking into a plan of action, that goal feels more accessible and your behavior becomes more consistent with your ideal.

Simple, but it works! Self-predictions can help reinforce good habits and disrupt bad ones.

Looking Back

When you need a reason to get back on track, stay motivated, whatever... Look back. Look back to when you first started your journey. How did you feel? What did you want? How does that compare to now? What have you learned since then? Too often we forget what we've accomplished and let negative thoughts into our lives.

It's easiest to look back if you keep a journal! Try writing in one at least once a week with your feelings, and both good AND bad things that have been happening.

Stop "Giving Up" Things

No, you did not "give up" junk food, you made a decision to eliminate unhealthy food from your diet. The difference is subtle, but important.

If you gave something up, it implies that you want it back. For example: "I gave up sweets" has a very different feeling than "Sweets are hindering my weight loss efforts, so I refrain."

You didn't give up smoking, you decided against being ruled by an addiction! You didn't give up McDonalds, you decided to refrain from eating grease laden food!

Choice or Cheat?

When you eat something that isn't necessarily on your eating plan, like yummy holiday treats, do you make it a Choice or is it a Cheat? If you feel you're cheating, you're likely to feel like you've "blown it" and will then use that one bite of fudge or cake or whatever to justify completely going off your plan. But, if you make it a CHOICE, if you ENJOY every last second you savor that fudge and resolve NOT to feel guilty about it, you are more likely to get right back on track.

Be passionate and creative

I am having a BLAST with my new lifestyle!! Finding unique recipes...my new motto is...If it aint pretty i aint eatin it!!! I've been trying to find the most colorful foods and serving myself like a princess on the china, folding my napkin just so...putting parsley on my plate. I'm really having fun with it. I'm trying to think of dieting as a positive and not a negative...and its working.

Count on the power of music

When I am feeling unmotivated, I throw on some good music and let it take me away. Even listening to music on the drive home is what turns my head-space around to getting in the groove to work out, to remeber it's my life, it's up to me and I can feel good with a song!

A Post-It A Day!

Having a positive attitude causes you to have a better outlook on life and on your quest to be healthier. By posting positive notes around the house, you are continuing to surround yourself with positivity. I post my notes around my bedroom and on my bathroom mirror each day of something happy. These are two places that I go to for refuge when I may be having a rough day. Reading the notes helps me to take a look and see what I should be thankful for and to begin back on the right track.

Living

I found this quote and modified it and wanted to share it with everyone:

Are you breathing just a little and calling it life? Inhale deeply and LIVE!

Cancel That Road Rage!

Recently I opted to say a short prayer for drivers whenever they do something to annoy me. It instantly relaxes me and helps me to see them in a positive way.

Dealing with Negativity

I choose to not respond when someone is complaining to me, egging me on to join them in their misery. I think it's an unconsious thing that people do, but the saying is true... misery loves company. I CHOOSE NOT TO BE NEGATIVE. Find the good in your day and hug it close!!

Don't Let One Hour Ruin You're Day!

A lot of people think if they mess up once during their day the whole day is ruined and they should do whatever they wish. Truthfully speaking this is far from truth. If you mess up wash your hands of it and promise to make the rest of the day better. You will be more successful this way and feel better!

Positive thru Pups

When I start to feel like I've screwed up and want to toss in the towel I look at dogs. They have the "if you fail the first time, keep trying" motto in life. If a dog wants a bone he keeps going until he gets it. Which reminds us a bad day is just a sign to get up and try again tomorrow.

Approach the scale with no expectations

No matter what the scale says, it doesn't change how you feel or how you look. In fact, it means very little in the grand scheme of things. Expect nothing and any loss will be a pleasant surprise and cause for celebration.

Never Give Up

There are a lot of little things we should do to change our bodies and our health. But the ONLY thing you MUST do is never give up. Don't beat yourself up for mistakes, just move on and celebrate yourself for getting back on track.

"Cancel Cancel!"

The power of positive self-thought is undeniable. What you think, you make so. Next time you have a negative feeling about yourself, or your progress--without processing--tell yourself "CANCEL CANCEL." Get back on track right away and you won't get derailed!

Treat yourself as you would treat your best friend.

You wouldn't tell your best friend that she is fat or ugly or worthless, so don't say it to yourself! Tell yourself you are beautiful, with or without the extra weight. You are the same wonderful person regardless of what you weigh. Weight and Worth are separate.

Write the positive

I have a journal that I write three positive steps that I took that day towards a healthier lifestyle. Sometimes, it's the only thing that I write in the journal, sometimes I write more. But if I'm ever feeling down or need a reminder on how far I have come, I can look at that journal.
