Because of restricted calories for weight-loss goals, hunger used to keep me awake in the middle of the night. Now I budget calories for a nutrition bar during a middle of the night wake-up. I fall right back to sleep afterwards.
The power is OUT! Flashlights dim? Candles too dangerous with kids/pets? No batteries left in the store? Try the little individual solar lights designed for outdoors. I bought some at a discount store for cheap. I keep a few on my sunny fencepost...they stay clean and within easy reach to bring inside for great indoor lighting in an emergency or any day to save electricity and use the sun's free energy.
Close to goal weight, but stuck, I knew I needed to do better. I decided to challenge myself to not eat after supper for 100 days in a row. I cocooned myself upstairs and refused to go down. I made 85 out of 100 days and got to goal weight!
If you have trouble getting to sleep at night, try a Cinnamon-Milk Toddy!
Due to a busy day schedule, I tend to workout late at night. Once I'm done, I want to take in some protein to help my muscles out, but I have to go to sleep soon and don't want to eat a meal right before showering/sleeping. My solution? I drink a cup of milk! Not many calories, not harsh on the stomach, and it has 8g of protein. Drinking it warm helps me relax before going to sleep.
You have 2 options:
I have always woken up with a huge sense of hunger and eaten in good faith, I needed to eat before I could get sleep. Secret: Instead of eating, try going to sleep. I did this and I woke up hunger free. Was not real hunger.
I bought several of those little belt-attachment or keychain-attachment battery-powered bike lights (the ones that bikers use to ride at night; they're sold in bike shops and outdoor equipment stores), and I keep one in each of my carrybags, so that I can take outdoor walks at night (or as night is approaching) and feel less worry about my safety. The lights are really bright, and last a long time!!
If you live in a safe area, walking at night during the summer makes for a much cooler walk. We feel more energetic walking after dark than under the hot sun, so we walk farther & faster & run into less traffic.... (more info)
At night sometimes I get the urge to eat something high-sugar, high-fat. I've found that if I'm really not hungry, I tell myself I can have whatever I want for breakfast.
