Round up purchases

Rather than entering the exact purchase amount into your check register, round that amount up.
Example: I purchased something for $34.46; I'd round that up to $35.00 in my register.
The change adds up after a while! Do that for a couple of months to add a cushion to your account, or take that extra and put it into your savings. You're not missing pennies, anyway! emoticon

Straight Talk Android Phones

Straight Talk now sells Android phones that can do everything you need it to do so why pay that $160.00 bill to your phone company when it only cost $45.00 for unlimited Straight Talk, talk, text, data and video. They even have two different Androids that you can make payments on for $25.00 a month to purchase the phone. Straight Talk is run by Verison and where I live that covers everywhere. For $6.00 a month I can protect my phone and get it replaced if it is damaged or gets wet. Switch now!

Tracking what you buy

When I grocery shop, I take a list and then on a separate paper track the cost of everything I put in my cart. By taking the time to write down the cost of each item and keep a running total, not only do I save money, but I also am way less likely to throw those impulse buys in. No more "But they said they wanted to be eaten" cookies or gummi bears.

Keep the change

Whenever you pay for something in cash, keep the change in a jar somewhere. Similarly, you can pick a denomination like a $5 or a $10 and every time you get one you put it away. I've done this with a $5 bill, and ended up saving enough in 6 months to pay for a spring break cruise!

Divorce your debit card

Make a decision to leave your debit card at home. I had a set amount of cash and didn't want to be embarrassed by going over. Bought what I needed and stopped buying extras!

Fountain of Youth in a bottle- Nerium

I have found the best night cream money can buy. No more turkey neck, fine lines, wrinkles, sun damage, sun spots, acne, saggy skin, chest lines, and more. You can log on and see all the photos that real people like you and me submitted. The are untouched photos. You will not believe the results and in such a short time frame. It will take years off your face. This works well for men also. You get a money back offer and you can't buy it in any store. www.cassylee.nerium.com

Freeze Herbs and Other Fresh Seasonings

Do you like using fresh herbs in your cooking, but never use a whole pack? Waste money on those jars of ready chopped seasoning?

Save money and time by:

1) Preparing
Fresh Herbs - Finely chop
Fresh Garlic - Finely chop/press/grate/shred
Fresh Ginger - Finely chop/grate/shred
Citrus Rind - Finely chop/grate/shred
Stock & Sauces - Remove any surface flotsam/fat

2) Press/pour into an ice cube tray and freeze

3) Transfer to baggies and label before storing in the freezer

Easy Portion Control & Money Saver

Even with the healthier whole grain Crackers, Chips, Pretzels...every good intention of sticking with the recommended serving size becomes defeat if the box is within sight. SO, I decided to count out the serving size into little baggies...now I have the right amount each time no guesswork after the meal...guilt free! Slows down my eating because what you see is what you get. Saves money buying bulk instead of individual packages and baggies can be used more than once. emoticon

Make money by weight loss!

Don't forget to itemize your donated clothes. Since I have began loosing weight I found I had many outfits that do not fit. I am getting rid of them. In the past I just stored them not realizing I was putting out to the Universe "I will be fat again." ...This time the ones that were large were donated even the nice stuff. In addition, I got rid of many of the baggy, comfy ones. Now, when I do my taxes next year the deduction will be nice!

Reward yourself with a gift card each week.

Each week I lose weight, I am buying a gift card. This helps me to save "cash" toward achieving my goal and I am able to make the purchase. If any hiccups should come along, I can't spend the $$ (i.e., if car breaks down I don't use my Macy's gift card at Meinike).

Iceberg Lettuce, How I Love Thee...

Iceberg lettuce has a bad reputation. Which is a shame! So, here are some reasons why you should invite iceberg back into your healthy eating plan.
1. its inexpensive
2. mostly water (= hydration)
3. mostly fiber (= more fiber!! -wink, wink!)
4. adds bulk to regular salads (i.e. more food!! yay!)
5. neutral taste (you went to the trouble to make your own salad dressing you should at least taste it!) AND
6. memories (lunch box sandwiches! yum!)

Change Jar

Keep a change jar and when you spend cash get the change back and put it in the jar. Never use change to pay with stuff. Sooner than you'd think you have 10, 20 or even $50 in just a few weeks.

Clean your filters, change ur thermostat

My hubby is a heating and air conditioning sales manager (technician for almost 20 yrs) and he has taught me that cleaning your filters can keep your system running more efficiently and its something anyone can do. Also your if you cant afford to update to a more efficient heating/air system then change your thermostat to a more efficient one that has a timer to use less when you're not at home or in bed.

My little secret

Well I guess for me it's giving back to the one who owns all. I do this by giving ten percent to my church ...which is giving back to God what he has blessed me with. Then I save ten percent for myself in an emergency fund. Sometimes that ten% can be small . When my pay is larger so is my tithe. He is always Faithful. emoticon

Predicting grocery shopping totals

When I grocery shop i take my shopping list, I track how much it's costing me, and then compare my estimate with the actual bill. I'm generally within $10 on $100-200 bills.

I use the 5 tick system (4 vertical & 5th is horizontal) and I round to the nearest dollar. This is easiest, and the rounding takes care of the taxes. emoticon

What do Rich People Do?

I've worked for a very wealthy man for over 24 years! He STILL uses coupons, believe it or not. That said, I started seeking his advice and the advice of others, like Dave Ramsey and Clark Howard. As a result, I am totally DEBT FREE and have almost a quarter of a million dollars in the bank. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS GET SMART & GET CHEAP!

One big thing I did is Dave Ramsey's "envelope system" where you go back to the days of "yore" (LOL) and put a little out of each check into an envelope!

Get Kindle books free

Some Kindle books are free on amazon.com and other sites. In addition, they are putting many in public libraries where you check them out online and then return them. The best thing is that you don't have to own a Kindle - you can use your PC or smartphone to read them.
