I work at a desk and I keep a mirror hanging in front of my desk or on my desk so that I can quickly and easily see my reflection. This helps so much when I want to go chow down! I see how far I have come and I see how far I still have to go! It is a win win scenario!
Studies prove that people are more likely to stay on track when "eyes are watching them." A mirror on the refrigerator, and one in the pantry, may subconsiously reduce snacking, sneaking or binging. PLUS, looking at yourself will remind you of your goals and help make that decision on whether you are going to snack or choose another option when you are not truly hungry.
If the mirror of your bathroom is spotted with dirt, I have a secret to make it shine. Before washing your towels, pass on the mirror by adding a few drops of water on the mirror before. Magic! No detergent, no wipes, just "de l'huile de coude" (expression in French). A step for the planet!
Having trouble picturing yourself lithe and lean? Next time you look in the mirror, move over to the right or the left, until you see about how you want one side to look. I know it's an illusion, but it's really interesting.
Click photos and words that inspire you from fitness magazines or ones that inspire you ("O" has great images). Use these to make or update your vision collage to keep you motivated. Put it where you can see it often - on your bathroom mirror, where you regularly exercise, or on the refrigerator door.
Sometimes the exercise routine you are doing bores you, ore you're just not motivated! If music doesn't help me, i try exercising in front of the mirror. It helps me do the exercises more correctly, and at the same time see the positive changes in my body.
Okay, I don't literally write on the wall. However, I do write my weight weekly on the mirror of my bathroom as well as a monthly waist and "gut" measurements. Since the bathroom is where I begin my day, it is a good reminder of the progress made and a motivator to stay on track.
Everyone has had those sleepy moments where you wake up and just go find a snack, to prevent this you've got to make sure it's CLEAR what you're goals are. On the bathroom mirror, on your alarm clock, on the fridge and freezer, on your snack cabinet.. POST your goals so you stay on track!
Whenever I need to remind myself (or husband) of something, I write it on the bathroom mirror with a dry erase marker. Whenever I brush my teeth or wash my hands, I see the message. It's easy to clean off with a tissue too.
