Portion Control

I purchased plasticware that are 1 cup, .5 cup and .25 cup. I use those to measure out food and snacks for lunches. That way the measure is what I pack into my lunch bag! emoticon

I've lost 40 pounds and have kept it off even through a back surgery this way!

keeping cut apples from going brown

Toss cut apples in some orange juice. They stay lovely and crisp in the fridge - ready to pack in school lunches, top a salad, throw into oatmeal, muffins, etc - without going brown.

@ work? Have group "Salad of the Week" !

Every Thursday at our school for the Spring and Fall months we organize a "Salad of the Week". There is a sign-up board with a theme generated. Everyone signs up and brings an item and we all share in the goodness. You can pick and choose what you want for your own salad.

Pack a cooler for work days

I pack mine the night before. I pack my lunch, a mid-morning and afternoon snacks. All my healthy options are right there at my desk. No need to buy lunch and be tempted by fast food, drive-thrus and vending machines. emoticon

Save time with homemade frozen meals

Whenever chicken breasts are on sale at my local grocery store, I buy a bunch of them. It doesn't take long to grill them all at once, steam some broccoli or other veggies, and make some brown rice in the rice cooker. I divide them up into Tupperware and voila -- pre-made healthy frozen lunches!
