I have found that setting goals not only yields results (as in accomplishing the obvious), but it boosts my self-confidence, and helps me think through my words and actions before following through. There is much satisfaction in completing goals!
This is a simple idea, but a easy one. Well easy to me. But looking at my current weight you wouldn't think so. Anyway it's simple really.
ďDonít get stuck thinking about things the way you always have. Open your mind to new ideas and the direction God might be trying to show you for your life. God will help you make the impossible dream a reality.Ē Ė Elmer Laydon
Your time is limited, so donít waste it living someone elseís life. Donít be trapped by dogma Ė which is living with the results of other peopleís thinking. Donít let the noise of otherís opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary. ó Steve Jobs
Who said Life was easy or there is an end to struggle? Just as you have to make a lifestyle healthy eating change & adjust to it till it becomes part of everyday life & no longer a "diet" struggle. You also can deal w/ what negative life brings to you by accepting, adjusting to it, riding it out, gaining strength, knowledge & adapting to it's changes till life gets easier again. With time & experience, you get better at emotionally & physically handling things. The struggle doesn't ever end. But
When you come to the end of all the light you know, and it's time to step into the darkness of the unknown, faith is knowing that one of two things shall happen: Either you will be given something solid to stand on or you will be taught to fly. - Edward Teller
$100,000 dollar income would be nice wouldn't it? But that doesn't make a person happy, in the end, only you can make yourself happy, so do what you want as a job, and if you like it you will succeed in life. You might not die a millionaire but you will at least die a happy person.
Don't do anything just because someone told you that you "should." Instead, find out what works for YOU and stick with it. So what if your best friend can't eat carbs? Maybe you need them in your diet to be happy and healthy. So what if that doctor on TV said you shouldn't eat after 7 PM? Maybe you work the late shift and that doesn't work for you. So what if six small meals doesn't satisfy you as much as four larger meals? This is your life, your body and your journey. Make it your own!
Think excitement, talk excitement, act out excitement, and you are bound to become an excited person. Life will take on a new nest, deeper interest and greater meaning. You can think, talk and act yourself into dullness or into monotony or into unhappiness. By the same process you can build up inspiration, excitement and surging depth of joy. - Norman Vincent Peale
I have multiple sclerosis and have had it for 25 years. A lot of aspects of the illness are out of my control completely but because I have learned about the illness AND myself with the illness, I have learned the things that I have power over and on bad days, I do okay. Life is unpredictable anyway and why not do okay where I can and have choices?
In a world of drive-thrus, microwaves, instant oatmeal etc it's easy to lose perspective that good things come to those who wait. I've learned that the best things in life are worth waiting for and more likely to stick. Live lifelong healthy & happy not just before vacation or a big event. Don't give up when you don't see results in 3 days. In 3 years you will be so much more healthy than when you started! :)
I make a goal for myself to make one small change for the better every week. These small changes have added up fast. It can be like, eat one vegetable every day. Or, this week I started composting. Smaller is better. Small changes are easy to stick with. You can add to them later.
