Stress Management: 4 A's - REMINDER! 4 A's

I am keeping the follwing four A's in mind: Avoid, Alter, Accept and Adapt. Whenever I feel my head is ready to pop from stress i'm going to look at the root cause and determine which one of the 4 A's can be applied.

Explore new areas each day

There is a lot of information on SparkPeople and it can become overwhelming if you let it. My advice is to take your time and explore a new area every day. This is an awesome tool...don't let yourself become overwhelmed with all the information.

Follow the 10% Rule

Trying to do too much, too fast, too heavy is a set-up for injuries. Start "where you are" and gradually increase as your fitness improves.

Take a class

Signing up for a class will bring results. Everyone has to start somewhere! You will commit to yourself by putting the time on your schedule. You will learn how to do something you never tried OR improve to do it better. You'll be with others with like interests and have a built in support system. You may even find a new pursuit or become good enough to teach it yourself.

Aim to do it right before you concern yourself with going faster

Focus on learning proper technique - this will be your sure foundation and allow you to perform better.
It applies to life as well as exercise - playing an instrument, typing, sports, martial arts, knots, even love!
Once you know HOW, you can do things more efficiently and more rapidly!
If you don't have time to do it right the first time, when will you have time to do it over?
