I am a very visual person and it helps me when I can see my progress. It can be discouraging if I don't see the scale move or my body change! Instead of using a traditional calendar to mark off my weeks of healthy eating and exercise, I paint my toenails. One toenail gorgeously decked out for every week of healthy habits. In ten weeks, my body has changed and I can start again! (Or reward myself with a full pedicure!)
Use Coconut oil for hair and skin: I put 1 tbsp of Coconut Oil to about a cup of my hair conditioner inside a bottle. Then I put it in my hair and on my skin. It hasn't made my hair oily either, but instead, leaves it very soft and supple. After I applied the coconut oil conditioner to my hair (and left it in and didn't wash out) I curled it in sponge curlers before bed then when I woke up, I had softly coiled hair. Very nice hair and pretty style if curled right.
In my OMAT team, we pick one reasonable and reachable goal for each month and work on that small goal for a whole month. By the time the month is done, you've now broken an old habit and created a new one! I've been doing this since September 2013 and it's the one thing that helped me finally budge the scale!
I've noticed that after a good workout, when I am suddenly "craving" some junk food like ice cream or something cheese-y etc, if I take a moment to think about what is in the food that might be soothed with a healthier substitute. For ice cream, I usually find a small container of Greek yogurt with fruits or some nuts satisfy my craving and give me good nutrients for my muscles after the workout.
Fat is a crucial and vital part of the diet! Many people think that they need to "reduce extremely" their fat level intakes... But what you should focus on is meeting the DRI (your goals) and having a majority of those fat grams be an intake of monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats. Those fats are referred to as the "healthy" fats. They can even help lower LDL count. Stay as far away as you can from saturated and trans fats. Those are the "SOLID" fats such as butter and margarine.
I sneak spinach into almost every meal. Just one cup of spinach has all of your recommended Vitamins A and K! I add it to a smoothie for breakfast and sneak it into almost all of my sauces and sides. Any salad is better with bright lovely, spinach!
Be sure to read all packaged food labels. The food industry is sneaky with the chemicals and word replacements. Soy and sugar replacements seem to be in everything!
I always experience a food craving after lunch. To keep myself busy and tasty,I make myself a cup of tea or coffee. When I have coffee I add a stevia sweetener and semi-skimmed milk. It saves me calories and I feel satisfied.
I "vision collaged" my back of the door mirror, this way I "SEE" it all the time!!! Everyday, sometimes several times a day! Foods, Exercises, Physically fit bodies, places I want to go and things I want to do!! Anything that is something to strive for or look forward to I put it on the edge of that mirror. SO when I do that one last check in the mirror before I sweep out the door I know what I want in LIFE!!! EVerything I want to live for is there: Prayer, Familiy, Friends.Healthy Lifestyle!
I like to add things to my water to make it taste better. A lemon or lime is a great start, but I want a bit more flavor. So I pick fresh mint from my garden and add it to lemons for a tasty treat. I've also seen people add cucumbers. Or even substitute the lemons for oranges.
Each week, I buy 3 fresh bananas, plus one bag each of frozen mangoes, pineapple, strawberries, blueberries and raspberries. Then I divide these up into 6 baggies, each containing 1/2 of a banana and 1/4 c. of each other kind of fruit. I store the baggies in the freezer and in the morning, take one out, put it in the blender with 1c. of almond milk and 1 c. of warm water. I blend it for a quick & healthy smoothie breakfast for me and my husband!
Determined to stay off the couch in the evening after a long day and exercise, I found if I sit on the floor I end up doing all my Calisthenics, yoga poses and stretching, while hanging with hubby and enjoying our tv show.
I hear people complain about being tempted by their snack food. Here's a flash! No matter where you are in your journey, take a look at your stash of snacks. Purge that stash with healthy goodies. Focus on snack time at twice a day, three times max! Put fruit and veggies into the mix! Get rid of the bad stuff! It's really easy to do and it will become a healthy change to your lifestyle!
A great way to eat healthy, and enjoy good foods is to take advantage of the summer time farmer's markets! Check your local papers/ towns for times and dates where locals sell their fresh, organic, healthy goods! It's can be a fun event for the family; help support local farmers, and help your community; and if you have never tasted a locally grown tomato; your salads and taste buds have been missing out! A good opportunity to try something new, and cost many goods are cost effective!

I have replaced almost all traditional bread, crackers and chips for dipping with vegetables. This has been a HUGE benefit because i'm fitting in more vegetables, especially RAW organic vegetables into my daily diet. I don't mean "Grab your celery People" I mean PEPPERS!! and NOT Green. Red, yellow and orange ~ YUMMY!!!
Whenever i'm getting off track or even when i'm feeling a little bored I look over my old blogs. Almost all of them give me a more positive perspective or solutions to what I want to tweak or change. Should I not feel more empowered or motivated to a new direction then I hit some of my SP friends blogs.
