Quick Breakfast-Dont skip it!

In the morning I know it is hard to get a good breakfast in. Some of us do not have the time to make eggs and so on. Instead I make a quick smoothie and put it in a cute cup.

Use 1-2 cups of almond milk/coconut water
Add fruits and veggies!
I usually mix strawberries/spinach
Blackberries/Kale
Freeze your fruit it will last longer and you will not have to use ICE because that will make your smoothie watery.

Want to add Greens to your protein shake?

Wash, dry, and freeze your greens (spinach/kale) in a bag and throw them in the blender with your protein shake. They get so small and don't over power the taste you wont even know they are in there!

Get Walking

Back in June this year (2013) I made the decision to walk every day. Little did I know the benefits that would follow. I began with 15 minutes, and now sometimes walk for more than 4 miles. Little by little with the help of Spark and a walking team I have extended my distance. Friends are commenting on how well and fit I look - even though I'm not yet at my goal weight. Get walking. Get looking at your surroundings - and you will blossom too.

Probiotics Are Essential for Prevention of Dis-ease & Obesity

I have used probiotics and digestive enzymes for 20 years. I have found that, in addition to Lecithin and Chromium Picolinate, probiotics assist in keeping the blood sugar normalized. They are also VERY important for the immune system. There are at least 13 strains of bacteria that are essential for preventing inflammatory illnesses and the health of our intestinal system which is the seat of our immune systems. These so-called 'good bacteria' crowd out the nasty ones.

When facing temptation...

I remind myself "What I REALLY want matters more than what I want right NOW."

Remembering that I have made weight loss and a healthy lifestyle the priority helps me put temptations and cravings in perspective--it takes away their power, and empowers me to make mindful choices.

Eat for your health

You will never know how many doctor's visits or surgeries, or cancer treatments you avoided, the copays you'll save, the money you'll earn because you can work and bring home a paycheck and maybe even do a little something for your retirement when you will be older, but you will not feel like you are.

Measuring Food

I recently bought a food scale because I was having a hard time knowing what is considered a reasonable portion. I use it pretty much every day! I have found it very helpful because often times, we may think that we're eating the "right" amount of food but are usually over indulging. I use the scale to measure my nuts, fruits, rice/quinoa before eating.

Thanks to Sparkpeople, I am slowly learning to do this, and am not struggling as much. I am not in danger anymore, and I realize how many people out there are dealing with the same issue. We can conquer this! We are stronger than our eating disorders. emoticon

POWER IN NUMBERS!!

I recently went on my FB and sent out a message looking for people to exercise with for five days a week after my work-out buddy and i developed conflicting schedules. To my surprise so many people were looking for the same thing. I find myself wanting to do even more so now I am exercising at home on my bike watching an hour long t.v. show first thing in the morning before I leave with a friend to where ever. Its great I'm able to be more motivated and its creating a lil club of our own!!

BONDING AND MODIVATION

My goal was to at least stick through it until I could get my husband to worry about his health, I knew as soon as he did that I would not be able to slip at all. We have such a great relationship that we will find any excuse to be around each other. He has become the best work-out partner yet!! Plus its really easy cause he lives with me and now we are finding all sorts of fun activities to do together, it's like going on a vacation all the time!! emoticon

Eye Opener: Book Review

("This is Why You're Fat" by Jackie Warner) Even if you're not interested in following her plan, the book has some really good information. There are some really good exercise plans in there also, "Power Circuits" as she calls them.

Avoid Heat Stroke

Be careful when exercising during the middle of the day.
Know the symptoms and signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke and take precautions.
Aim to exercise early (first thing) before it gets hot
or wait until evening when the temperatures have cooled down.
Or plan an alternative activity indoors or in a pool.

Do It For You

If you recognize your goal to lose weight and get fit as something you do for yourself, and not others, the changing tides of emotion will have less impact on your efforts.
