Whip Cream Cheese Secret Ingredient

Add 1-2 tbsp of Whipped Cream cheese to pasta sauces, gravies, meat and pasta/veggies etc to add a CREAMY RICH flavor and consistency. This will turn a regular tomato sauce into "Tomato Alfredo" ; and impart a creamy taste when cooking vegetables, meat, and pasta with no sauce.

Slicing Garlic

I put a little oil on my fingers to keep the garlic from sticking to them and as you slice it keeps it from sticking to the knife too.

Taste and smell: Understand smell is a large portion of flavor & eat mindfully

Nearly 90% of what we call taste is actually what we smell.
Use this to your advantage by eating slowly and mindfully.
Savor your food. Smell it before putting it into your mouth. Chew thoroughly. Experience it with all of your senses. This will allow you to experience pleasure, satisfaction and satiety, and reduce overeating.

Choose a favorite and say no to the rest

If you have a "trigger food" or binge item, one thing that helps me is to decide only to eat one type. I'll have a small serving of strawberry ice cream but say no to every other flavor or brand, just to keep from eating it except as a special "treat." Make a decision it is not worth it unless you have your choice - choose to say no otherwise.

Add Kale to soups and stews

Try adding Kale to any soups or stews you make. It adds some color, nutrition and flavor to your food. I added it to my Chicken Noodle Soup and it was wonderful!

Add a little spice to your life

When my jar of cinnamon was nearly empty, I added some Splenda to it and relabeled the container. It's so easy to grab it and shake a little of the mixture into coffee, tea, oatmeal, cottage cheese, pop corn, or on top of toast ---to add a little extra flavor to otherwise bland foods. Yum!

Lemon-Juice-To-
Go
for water

When out & about, it's hard to take actual lemon juice with you to flavor water. TrueLemon packets are crystallized lemon juice and are individual-portion-sized. Just dump 1/2-1 packet in your water & you've got lemon water. Usually find it in juice aisle next to lemon juice. Helps when not near a water filter. emoticon

Dealing With Hunger

I had been battling HUNGER as I try to get back on track, and I remembered that a low calorie, filling, flavorful soup can help with that. I begin with canned tomatoes, stewed, diced, whatever I have, add Italian seasoning, then add low calorie veggies, such as onions, cabbage, okra, squash, and eggplant. Whatever you have on hand. Once it is all cooked in the tomatoes and spices, everything seems to go together, even if you didn't think it would at first. This is filling, flavorful, lo cal
