My dogs are my secret weapon for success

My dogs need to go for walks and the oldest (16 yrs old) doesn't care to walk down the stairs any longer, so I started taking them both for short walks.

Now the three of us walk up to 2 miles at a time, when the old guy feels up to it.

Training dog

Train your dog to get you going each day at a certain time. If you can train them to sit,lay or heal you can also do this. I have and it works. emoticon

Old boxes of baking soda

Use the 'old' boxes of baking soda from your fridge and freezer for cleaning your pots and pans, washing up after greasy or yard work, final rinse on your dogs bath, cleaning jewelry stones.
Put it in a Big empty spice shaker and it is handy in the garage, shed and under the sinks. Leaves skin SILKY smooth too!

Have a dog?

Take your dog to the dog park, and instead of sitting and watching it play, walk around the perimeter for 15 to 20 minutes. It's an easy way to get a mile in!

Walk while you wait

My feet were moving while my vehicle received 4 new tires. I didn't sit and wait the hour in front of a TV in a waiting room. Previous times I brought a book, this time I brought my dog and we walked nearly 4 miles during the hour appointment.

Men's Best Friend

Have you got a dog? Walk your dog. My dog is the best running partner I've ever had. He never stands me up. He's never too tired. And I can be sure he's going to remind me that yes, we are going out!

Exercise with retreivers

I do floor exercise with my retriever. Every time I sit up for a crunch I get a nose lick! I get added aerobic benefits from laughing so hard.

Walk that dog!

If you have a dog you have a built in motivator for exercise and walking. After a few days your dog will remind you that it's time for that walk and give you those sad eyes.

Puppies

If you have a dog, they can be a great source of motivation. Going on walks several times a day will become a habit that they expect and ask for in their actions. Seeing their pleasure will help you to go for your goals too!

de-skunking dogs - forget the tomato juice and Listerine!

Mix together a quart of hydrogen peroxide, 1/4 cup baking soda and 1-2 tsp Dawn dishwashing detergent. Add warm water as needed to make enough solution to cover the whole dog. Rub it in well with a sponge and then rinse with warm water. Repeat if necessary.
Keep out of eyes (yours and dog's.)

Walking

When I don't feel like walking I tell my dogs that we are going for a walk. They understand what that means and their excitement is enough to get me excited. If the excitement weren't quite enough then the thought of how disappointed they would be if we didn't go and the looks I would get would be.

Child's Play

When you go for a walk or a run, take your kids or dogs (if you have either!) My kids yell to me 'faster' and my dogs tell me the same by pulling on the leash. They are better coaches than even Mickey was to Rocky Balboa!

Positive thru Pups

When I start to feel like I've screwed up and want to toss in the towel I look at dogs. They have the "if you fail the first time, keep trying" motto in life. If a dog wants a bone he keeps going until he gets it. Which reminds us a bad day is just a sign to get up and try again tomorrow.

Pet Friendly Workout

Some days when I don't feel like working out I look at my dog and see her bursting with energy. Taking her to the park, walking or running with her ends up being play time for her and excercise time for me! She usually pushes me too!
