Read even the Healthy Food ingredient lists, SNEAKY Food industry!

Be sure to read all packaged food labels. The food industry is sneaky with the chemicals and word replacements. Soy and sugar replacements seem to be in everything!

Cut out store ads to ensure you get the right price.

Just because an item is on sale in the ad doesn't mean the store has the correct sale price in their computer system. When checkout clerks are instructed to be as fast as possible it is easy to miss if you've been charged the wrong price. When you are buying a sale item from an ad, cut the ad info out and bring it with to prove to the clerk if it rings up wrong. Even if only 1 item in 100 is wrong, it still might cost you significantly.

Coupon + Sale = Savings

I only use my coupons when things are on clearance or on sale in the grocery stores. You can usually combine the two discounts for added savings.

True coupon savings...

When I started using coupons, I was discouraged that I couldn't use a coupon for every item bought. Then I realized that some items were actually less w/o a coupon which led me to a secret of true savings.
I still shop sales and try to attach coupons when I can but instead of counting money saved, I divide total items purchased, found at the bottom of the receipt, into total $ spent. This gives me $/item. I am giddy when I spend only $1.50 for laundry soap, meat, beauty care, etc!

Healthy Couponing!

As an avid couponer, when I come across a coupon for frozen veggies, I try to get as many coupons as I can and keep my eyes open for sales so I can stock up for the future! Also, when there are rice coupons, I look for the smallest package that my coupon will allow me to use and buy mulitiple bags with coupons.

Grocery Coupons

I hit the following websites weekly to stock up on electronic coupons for grocery shopping. For some, you can load them directly onto your savings card (paperless!), and others you can print out and take with you. The paperless ones automatically redeem at checkout.

Overcharged at the store? Make sure to get your money back!

A few times per month I have been overcharged for items at the store...stores of all types, grocery stores, clothing stores, general merchandise stores and such. Look over your receipt before you leave the store. Don't be afraid or lazy about getting the money back for overcharged items. I saved an additional 4 dollars on one item due to a misapplication of a coupon. It adds up!

Moving to a new town

We just moved cross country & to acquaint myself with places I think I'll want to frequent I've taken a small notebook into which I tape coupons, ads & other items of interest I cut out of the local paper. I have them in sections like Restaurants, Thrift Stores, Medical, Shopping, Pets, Attractions, etc.

Coupons, Coupons, and more coupons

I use coupons to save our family over $400/month. It does require some time, about 2 hrs a week prep and then the shopping, but it is well worth it.

Internet coupons

I print out my grocery coupons from both the MyPoints and Inbox Dollars sites. They carry the same as coupons.com and sometimes extras. You earn 10 MyPoints for each of their coupons, or 10 cents towards rewards on Inbox Dollars. They really add up and you get extra rewards in addtion to the grocery savings.

Saving money on prescriptions

My doctor gives me samples on new medications in addition to the prescription. If I'm going to be on the medicine longer term, I always go to the website for the drug company to see if there are any discounts or coupons. I will sign up for their newsletter as well. I had a $35 co-pay on one medicine (no generic option yet) and now have a discount card that gets me $20 off, so I only pay $15 for it now. I really appreciated that savings on medicine that I really can't skip.

Free Samples

I like sending off for free samples, because I get to try something I really don't have the money to buy. When they come in the mail it feels like getting a gift! They send coupons with the free samples so I can save money when I buy them. I put the ones I send off for on the Waist Management Team so other can get them too. Its really fun.

Everyone knows there is massive amounts of information online these days. Take the time out and look up a few of your local competitors store online ads. For example: Publix, Winn Dixie and Albertsons. All 3 stores have their weekly circular available online. Plan out your groceries according to the best sales. THEN go to www.coupons.com and download their coupon printer & print out coupons you will use. Let me tell you… seriously a life saver. Plus, the thrill of getting $100 worth

Coupons

I cut coupons but, there are some I don't use. My Aunt and I started a system where we exchange coupons. We now have a few people involved and it is a great way to socializes and exchange coupons.

Save money with Facebook

If there is a product you really like and use a lot of, or a store you shop in often, search for them on Facebook and "like" them if they have a page. Sometimes they offer deals, coupons or samples exclusively for Facebook fans.

Use coupons, double, and triple coupons

Get Sunday paper go to couponmom.com and http://www.hotcouponworld.co
m.
Then go to stores like Price Chopper, Shaws, and Stop and Shop that do double coupons. Make sure to watch for double 1-3 dollar coupons. I save an average of 70-90 dollars a weekly to biweekly on groceries.

Don't Leave Money Behind

Grocery store chains are starting to print coupons at the register to encourage you to shop with them again. Sure, this is a great thing for the business, but it's also free money for you. I'm shocked at how often customers leave them behind.
