I dedicate this Secret of Success to all my sisters and brothers on SP.
Happy that you're losing weight, or that you're thinner than you used to be? GREAT! But guess what? Your weight loss doesn't give you the right to offer unsolicited advice and "diet evangelism" to friends, loved ones and complete strangers who you feel could benefit from your new-found enlightenment. PLEASE respect ALL the body sizes, weights, physicalities & personal choices around you and DO NOT tell everyone how they could be losing weight like YOU. Because, amazing though it may seem...
I keep two pictures on my dresser ALWAYS! A picture of me when I was'nt happy with my weight, and eating habits. And a picture of the NEW me happy, and healthy. It keeps you in check, to maintain the new you. And a constant reminder of all the hard work you put into changing you life. You might say 'Ughh" looking at the one, followed by "But look at me now!!"
You know how Spark gives you that fine-print warning that "Secrets of Success are submitted by readers and are NOT scanned or edited for accuracy and truth; please do not use them as a substitute for a physician's advice"? Please, take that to heart. I have read some DOOZY hints on here that just blow my mind. Remember: someone typing it onto Spark People DOESN'T MAKE IT TRUE, HEALTHY OR HELPFUL. Trust a doctor/professional or a medical website for more factual facts.
Don't do anything just because someone told you that you "should." Instead, find out what works for YOU and stick with it. So what if your best friend can't eat carbs? Maybe you need them in your diet to be happy and healthy. So what if that doctor on TV said you shouldn't eat after 7 PM? Maybe you work the late shift and that doesn't work for you. So what if six small meals doesn't satisfy you as much as four larger meals? This is your life, your body and your journey. Make it your own!
Whether it's for nutrition information, motivation, questions, encouragement, how-to's, requests for help, special requests...the list is endless. I ask questions of anyone and everyone I think would know the answer. You'll be surprised at the things you discover others arond you are experts at!
I'm sure others have said this .too, but when you join with another person towards a common goal and you have similar interests, the percentage of odds in your favor of SUCCESS AT REACHING YOUR GOAL expand GREATLY and most likely YOU WILL SUCCEED!!! I have found ALL the sparkteams to be helpful.....
I hit a plateau after the first month on SP and it went for 1 week.During that time i thought I should use the expertise of my fellow Sparkers and sparkfriends to help me since I knew they had to have hit a plateau at some point in their journey.
When I need a boost, a kick or a hug, I log on to Spark people and holler for help! There's always a Spark friend, a team member, or sometimes a complete stranger (if there is such a thing on SP) online to offer a word of encouragement.
