Vision Board & GOALS

I "vision collaged" my back of the door mirror, this way I "SEE" it all the time!!! Everyday, sometimes several times a day! Foods, Exercises, Physically fit bodies, places I want to go and things I want to do!! Anything that is something to strive for or look forward to I put it on the edge of that mirror. SO when I do that one last check in the mirror before I sweep out the door I know what I want in LIFE!!! EVerything I want to live for is there: Prayer, Familiy, Friends.Healthy Lifestyle!

Off the couch, on the floor..

Determined to stay off the couch in the evening after a long day and exercise, I found if I sit on the floor I end up doing all my Calisthenics, yoga poses and stretching, while hanging with hubby and enjoying our tv show.

Stress Management: 4 A's - REMINDER! 4 A's

I am keeping the follwing four A's in mind: Avoid, Alter, Accept and Adapt. Whenever I feel my head is ready to pop from stress i'm going to look at the root cause and determine which one of the 4 A's can be applied.

Just walk or 10 minutes...

Seriously this works every time. If I just don't feel like hitting the GYM I tell myself, "I'm just going to walk or do 10 minutes". Toss on your work out clothes and shoes & go out the door. I hit the gym and I am always excited that I pull through and do an amazing workout/run. I am NEVER beating myself up for going only if I don't at all!

Review and Tweak the Plan~

Whenever i'm getting off track or even when i'm feeling a little bored I look over my old blogs. Almost all of them give me a more positive perspective or solutions to what I want to tweak or change. Should I not feel more empowered or motivated to a new direction then I hit some of my SP friends blogs.

The Fridge List

When an item is "almost" empty (ie vanilla extract, windex, TP, coffee) I add it to the shopping list hanging on the fridge. Ask family members to do the same, instead of telling you "we need more..." I copy the list to a note on my phone, or take a pic. No emergency runs to the store for this or that by planning ahead...great lessons for kids...plus I get to look for sales...and we always have TP!
We call it the "Fridge List". emoticon

1/2 that portion...Break
fast,
Lunch, Dinner

Half that portion! I half the portion of whatever i'm about to eat. If it can't be halved without wasting part then I don't eat it Example: Sandwich you can half & save for later...cookie you would have to share if a person is available or throw the half away if you have no one to share it with. IF I would have to waste it then I don't eat it. Planning!

Pre-procrastina
tor
RUSH!

I used to procrastinate on EVERYTHING. But I learned in college, that the rush from the original assignment was just as adrenaline pumping as the last-minute adrenaline rush - So if something needs to get done - I hang on to that initial rush and do it before the rush runs out! Now, if it's something mundane I can't do right away, I write it down on a short list and add something exciting to it, like "buy toothpaste AND get a new magazine." It's a little Pavlovian but it works! emoticon

Fast -- 1/2c chocolate soy milk (light, pre measured and frozen is best), blend with half a banana, 1tsp honey, couple drops of vanilla and a bit of flax seed. --- yummo!

To-DONE List

When using a "to do list" make sure to "check off" your accomplishments instead of erasing or scratching them out. That way instead of seeing all the things you didn't get done, you can feel good about all the things you DID achieve.

Easy way to inventory your refrigerator contents

Ever find yourself looking in the fridge for something?
Wondering if that leftover has grown hair?
Need to remind yourself to put something on the grocery list?
Heloise printed the suggestion of a magnetic dry board on the front door of the refrigerator.
You can write the contents and date of items (particularly leftovers) on the board so you will know when to use them or throw them out.

Make A List of Alternate Activities to Eating

I have a list of alternate activities to eating posted on my refrigerator. I look at it and do one of them when I am tempted to overeat. On that list I have things like exercise, reading, knitting, listening to music, guided imagery, dance around the room, play with my cats, play a computer game, etc.

Logging WHEN you eat!!

If you have the chance to log your meal or snack right away while you are eating or or directly after, you won't have to try to remember what you ate throughout the day and this way, you are less likely going to forget what you ate when its time to log it in.

Shopping Lists

I used to do my shopping half by list, half by whatever struck me. I find that if I take the time to make a proper list and stick to it, I can be far more organized with our food. I plan ahead for meals & snacks which saves me from those kitchen raids.

Opening Receptions = FREE Food, Fun, and Learning - Just Get Out There & FInd It

We love going to opening receptions for art exhibitions. There is always food--usually healthy stuff like veggies, fruit, and cheeses and sometimes wine (stay away from the soda and junk). Dinner, entertainment, social interaction, and learning and seeing new stuff. It is a win on all levels!

Leave yourself a message on the mirror

Whenever I need to remind myself (or husband) of something, I write it on the bathroom mirror with a dry erase marker. Whenever I brush my teeth or wash my hands, I see the message. It's easy to clean off with a tissue too.

Travel List

Before any trips, especially trips to other states or countries, I'll check my travel list. Most of items are same for every trips - lingeries, chargers, personal cares, etc. Sometimes I update the list according to the trips. It's very useful, especially trips to places I'm not familiar with.
