Drinking the Day Away!

Do you ever find that you just can't gt enough liquids during your day? Does the thought of "just one more glass of water" sound like torture? I know that my palate desires FLAVOR!

Take a big pot and fill it about halfway--your daily requirement---
1) throw in 2 or 3 GREEN tea bags-- make tea and remove
2) add spices, onions, garlic, or bullion cubes/soup packet
3) boil, bring to simmer

Drink JUST THE BROTH whenever you feel hungry.

Whose water bottle is this?

I happily now have my whole family drinking PLAIN water {though we used to LOVE Propel!} and with that accomplishment comes everyone's water bottle and no identification! So, we put our first initial or both intials on the cap and it solves the problem! Plus if someone is sick, I know WHICH water bottle is mine!

Making Water Less Boring

Sometimes drinking 1L - 2L of water a day can be difficult but what if it looked more appealing?
Encourage yourself to drink more water by changing the glass, cup or container to something bright and colourful. There are a lot of brightly coloured plastic cups decorated with pictures or flowers etc on them.

Drinking enough water

My way of drinking enough water is to make it a taste better by adding a little tea for flavor.

since posting this secret I have become a water connoisseur, adding fruits, cucumbers, and even vanilla flavoring to water.

I upped my water intake fro 6-8 glasses to 12-15 per day.

Suggestion for drinking your daily water amount

I drink constantly from my Brita filter water bottle (it makes the water taste so good!) while I'm working on SparkPeople stuff (doing quizzes, reading SparkEmails, answering trivia questions, reading articles, etc.). I hold the water bottle to my mouth with my left hand, and I point/click with my right hand. It's amazing how quickly I finish that 20-oz. bottle while I'm on the computer! emoticon emoticon

Lemon Water

To give my water a bit of a boost I add a couple of slices of lemon. I will leave it in my glass and keep filling up throughout the day. I slice and freeze the lemons so I always have them available.

Drinking water

The first thing I do in the morning is drink a glass of water. I also drink a glass of water just before going to bed. This helps me drink my 8 glasses of water every day and also helps prevent me from mistaking thirst for hunger. And I don't wake up at night feeling thirsty, so I get more sleep.

Excercising leads to Water Drinking

I don't like drinking water but I find it's a lot easier when I actually exercise! When you're really thirsty after a workout or after sweating a bit, you tend to want water rather than a sugary drink since it quenches your thirst better. Helps motivate me to work out AND drink water!

Drink all your water - but not all at once.

Drinking a lot of water (4+ cups) within a short period of time (~30-60 mins) will prevent your body from using it properly. It is MUCH better to spread your water intake over the whole day. This allows your kidneys to use it properly, instead of releasing unprocessed water and dehydrating you. If you drink throughout the day while eating, you replenish both sodium and water in your kidneys to keep them functioning properly.

Hot tea with a little milk

The tea is good for you and calorie free while the milk is a little hit of calcium and other good things. You can spread out a cup a milk a long way in tea.

I drink black tea in the morning for some caffeine but not enough to get jangled. Then I switch to decaf for the rest of the day.

And for a change up I switch to a clear herbal.

This works better for me than high cal juices, soda's or sweetened tea. And I enjoy it more than cold water. Try it! emoticon

Bottled Lemon Juice

I've started keeping a bottle of lemon juice in my refrigerator and another in the fridge at work. I drink way more water that way! It's also great to have around so that I can cut up fruits and keep them from oxidizing.

Breaking soda habit

After 2 1/2 weeks of drinking only ice water (had my tonsils out), I decided to treat myself to a regular cola drink from a local fast food eatery--I only drank about 4 oz. (sipping while I ate) as it tasted awful to me! It is amazing how quickly you can change your taste for something!

Water in Wine Glass

I realized that in a restaurant I will drink glasses of water during a meal. Why? Because it's presented like a featured item in a fancy glass and someone (sometimes) keeps filling the glass. So now I'm trying making the water seem special by putting it in a wine glass. emoticon

Loading Water

When sitting at your desk, I used to find that it was really hard to remember to drink my water. Now, I keep a water bottle next to the hand that I use my mouse with. Whenever I need to wait for something, like a program to load or a website to pop up, I drink my water until it's done. Sometimes I try to see how much I can drink while I wait!

Drink that water!

I find the best time to drink a lot of water is when I sit down at the computer to participate in my daily session on SparkPeople. I can usually easily drink 3 or 4 glasses while I read articles, email, blogs and message boards for the day. emoticon emoticon

I hate water!!!

Secret: Buy fruit tea bags!!!

Put 1 fruit tea bag in 1bottle of cold water - it will add just enough of the tea 2 the water 2 give it a smell + a small taste.

The smell tricks your mind into thinking your drinking a fruit drink, the taste will be enough 2 get past the non-existent water taste.

A trick to drink more water!

Invest in a super cool reusable water bottle that you will love to carry around. I got myself a big 40oz stainless steel bottle and covered it with scuba diving stickers. It looks cool, reflects my personality, reminds me of what I love & it's good for the planet to boot! 8 glasses a day? No prob!

Purchase of a REUSABLE BPA free plastic cup with straw and screw on lid.
I have found that by drinking out of a straw I now consume more water evenly throughout the day. Thanks Straw

CamelBak or Any Other See-Thru Water Bottle!

I love my pink 24 oz CamelBak water bottle. It's marked at the 8-16-24 oz levels, making it easy for me to see at a glance how much water I have drank from the bottle. I keep it filled with ice water on my desk at work and have a goal to finish 3 bottles per day (72 oz or 9 cups).

Visual Reminder to Drink Water

I keep a stack of pennies next to my water glass (started with 6, currently 7, soon to be 8). Each time I drink a glass of water, I move one penny to the other side of the glass. Once I've moved all my pennies, I've gotten my minimum water requirement for the day, without having to keep count.
