What's healthy in the Junk Food You are craving after workout?
I've noticed that after a good workout, when I am suddenly "craving" some junk food like ice cream or something cheese-y etc, if I take a moment to think about what is in the food that might be soothed with a healthier substitute. For ice cream, I usually find a small container of Greek yogurt with fruits or some nuts satisfy my craving and give me good nutrients for my muscles after the workout.
Keep fresh fruit around
Buy fresh fruit and keep it in stock and in sight. I keep apples and bananas on the counter, and fresh berries and such at eye level in the fridge. Chances are, if it is in sight, you'll eat it.
The Easy Way to Eat Apples
I recently bought an all-in-one apple corer/slicer. One simple push, and my apples are ready to eat. I find that if I have slices instead of a whole apple, I'm much more likely to snack on them (especially during work hours).
keeping cut apples from going brown
Toss cut apples in some orange juice. They stay lovely and crisp in the fridge - ready to pack in school lunches, top a salad, throw into oatmeal, muffins, etc - without going brown.
Dice up your apples
Dice up your apples in small, bite size pieces so you can enjoy them as a good movie snack instead of popcorn or chips.
Try different apples
Taste all the different apples at the grocery store to find your favorite! I'd been buying Red Delicious out of habit, but decided to try all the others at the store. It's fun bringing a different one to work every day and trying all the different tastes. Cameo and Honeycrisp are my new favorites!
One of the secrets to my program is apples.
I eat 3 to 4 apples per day This is done so that when I do have a meal i'm not as hungry and eat less. Your burn more calories eating them through metabolism than you take in
