Drinking Water

To get my much needed water in everyday I use my prettiest glass. Instead of putting water into something plastic, I choose to use a pretty glass, mine holds 16oz plus ice and has colorful dots on it. That glass makes me feel like my water is a special drink rather than something boring!

Use up the mustard

When the mustard container is almost empty, I add water to make a very thin sauce. I add it to marinades and dressings to zing things up a little.

Sugar free gum is your friend

When I'm cooking I chew on a piece of sugar free gum. This keeps me from "tasting" as I'm cooking, as I'm usually pretty hungry. I would estimate two 5 calorie pieces of gum (dinner and lunch) save me 50-100 calories a day!

How to drink more Water!

I have found that I loose more weight when I drink more water throughout the day. One of my secrets is to keep a water bottle by me at all times. Every time I get up from my desk, I take a drink. Every time I change the channel, I take a drink, and so on. I can drink double the water doing this!

Taking it slowly!!!

I started my journey in Jan 2010. However my journey started before that when I was eating out of control. So, the way I am looking at my weight loss journey is that I didn't put the weight on over 2-3 months it was over several years. So, if it takes me several years to lose 43lbs I'm ok with that.

Zucchini "Pasta"

Try using a vegetable peeler to peel a zucchini or two. then cook it quickly like it were fettuccine. Not only it makes a great healthy substitute (with way less carbs than pasta), it also tastes great!

Make lunch easy

I know that if I save packing lunch for the morning, I am likely to oversleep or forget to pack it. But, if I make myself an extra portion (or several extra portions) of dinner and put the leftovers into one-serving per container pieces of tupperware, I don't stress about lunch in the morning.

Plan a menu

Every weekend I sit down for an hour and plan my menu including snacks for the next week. I type it up and post it on my frig. I will plan down to how many calories I will have each day. I make sure that I have about 4 weeks of menus and rotate them. I also try a new recipe each week.
