portion control

I've found the easiest way to gain control of my portions with snacks is to buy the glad snack bags and divide it as soon as i get home.

Flu Shot

1/year. I noticed that its effect is accumulative -- 3rd year i was healthier during flu season than 2nd and 2nd year healthier than the 1st year I had a flu shot.

Rethinking my snacking habit

I tend to want a snack mid morning and mid afternoon, so at one point I decided to plan my lunch with my snacks in mind. Essentially, I could "snack on my lunch" all day and keep my blood sugar more level through my work day. In this way I can come closer to the 6 small meals a day approach.
This is keeping my snacks more healthy while staying simple in my meal plans and portion control. emoticon

VitaTops and VitaBrownies...
YUM!
YUM! YUM!

VitaTops and VitaBrownies are delicious treats that are 100 calories each and 2 grams of fat. They have 50% of many vitamins and minerals. The VitaTops are like muffin tops and they come in several flavors. (Deep Velvety Chocolate & Banana Nut are my faves.) The VitaBrownie...well, it's a little brownie. They're not very sweet, but they satisfy. They're found in the freezer section where natural/organic foods are and are available in most chain grocery stores.

Do something you love!

I've found that I really do move more when I do something I love - like hooping or biking ;) Even though a morning walk or family moving is a great idea, it doesn't always happen which means I'm not making my exercise a priority....doing something I love that's easy for me to do is the key to my movement ;)

I Was the Person Who Swore She'd NEVER Buy a Kindle

For the past two years, I told friends that there was no way I'd give up a "real" book for an electonic reader. Then the price of the Kindle fell and it arrived last week. I loaded 200 free books and will have to start a 12-step program "Kindles Anon" in order to tear myself away from reading. Honestly? I love it. Where else could I store 200-plus books or carry them around with me? And BTW, I still read "real" books. No need to give them up.

Carve The Life You want

Cause life isn't a guarantee. None of us know how long we have. Would you want to spend your life the way you are RIGHT now if you found out you only have a year to live? If not, then plan where you want to be. Plot it all out. And take the necessary actions to carve the life you want!

Resisting Temptation

I've been having this issue with eating too many Skinny Cow treats. So, every time I want to eat one, I ask myself, "Would I eat an omelet instead?" If I am willing to make an egg white omelet, I know I am actually hungry. If I just want the treat, I eat if I haven't eaten one yet--or I say no if I have.

Eating a Snack helps

Eat a low-calorie snack mid-morning and mid-afternoon and you are likely to eat less for lunch and dinner.
