Change the normal "routine" at parties & get-togethers

For me, when I attend parties at friend's and family's house, the food is usually set up the same way; relative to each house. It's usually in the kitchen sprawled along the counters. What helps me to avoid overeating is to get one plateful of the healthiest foods in proper servings, and then get out of the area completely. To stand around the food is to continually be beckoned to munch on all the unhealthy foods which were initially avoided!

Relate a pound of fat to a pound of ground beef

Whenever I think that a pound lost is minor, or insignificant, I conjure up an image of a package of ground beef and realize what a success it is to have that much meat off my bones!
