after reading everyones' great suggestions, i realized that the best way to deal with my plateau was yes change some part of my daily exercise routine and eat smaller meals, but i also came to the conclusion i was not GAINING. yea! i was more relaxed and enjoyed my workouts and time with my family.
best thing i ever learned was what all those ingredients really are on the labels of foods. if i can't pronounce them or it is not real food i just don't buy it anymore. our bodies like real food and if there is a choice between feeling great from real food or a twinkie - real food everytime.
we love having parties. so we make sunday a cooking party day. my friends come over with their children and they play in the backyard and we all take different recipes that we like but have trouble with making. after a couple of hours we all have 4 or 5 different dishes to take home and use as meals
slim fast 100 calorie bars are really good. there is a chocolate vanilla bar that satisfies any craving and a peanut butter bar that taste just like a butterfingers. they are small but sometimes it is just the taste that you want and the 100 calories will fit into any program.
over the past two weeks i have been volunteering at various places ...THEY WORK YOU. two to fours of helping others whether it is clean up detail or food centers is a great way of burning calories. up-down-pickup-walk this over-carry this-on your knees or stretch out it is a great workout.
walmart carries a nice ant and roach and wasp spray made from peppermint oil it is called ecosmart. we have dogs, cats and kids and not only does it smell better than raid (uck) i feel everyone can play outside afterwards without my usual screaming of" get away from there i just sprayed".:)
easy way to keep cool water during summer heat - fill a 16.9 oz plastic bottle 3/4 with water and freeze the night before - then when you are ready to go out fill up the rest of the bottle . cool water sipped while running your errands help as well as i don't feel as hungry when shopping.
i always remind myself when i am working out either on the treadmill, swimming, walking or working in the yard...if this were easier it would be called "easy out" instead of work out. for whatever reason this usually brings a smile to my face and i finish.
we all know it is very difficult to give up sodas but diet tonic water with lime or lemon juice (fresh is better but bottle juice will do) does actually taste great (better than water out of the tap) and still gives you the fizz. plain seltzer water with juice is also great and less sodium. :)
my magic bullit helps with grinding regular oats into oat bran so that i can add that to almost everything i cook. oat bran adds a great deal of both the fibers. it will puree fruit so that i can add that instead of butter, oils or sugars. it is a very small appliance that saves me calories. :)
