Play with Your Food

My mother was a good cook, but never changed a recipe. Instead of just following a recipe, don't be afraid to make it your own. I often change recipes to suit my tastes or make them healthier. The resut is some great recipes that are good for me. It is OK to play with your food!

Be Your Own Chef

I heard this phrase on "5 Ingredient Fix." It is an excellent idea! My mother was a good cook, but never changed a recipe. My secret--don't be afraid to make a recipe your own. If you like garlic, add some or add more. Don't like rosemary? Try a different herb. Not all changes will be great, but it will be fun!

Spark your Tastes

Take time to look at new veggies and fruits in the market. Give yourself some of your budget to try new foods. There are many great foods that are good for you! I recently found Chinese spinach which is red to try.

Fat free Ricotta

I use 1/4 cup of fat free ricotta cheese to make a dip for veggies as a snack. I just add my favorite seasonings and mix. It is quick and easy with good low fat nutrition.
