Meat + soup + crockpot

Pretty much any kind of meat (pork roast, pork chops, chicken breast, bone-in chicken, beef roast, etc.) can be put in the crockpot with pretty much any kind of "cream of X" soup (broccoli, mushroom, onion, potato) and will become a delicious meal.

Run with the Marine Corps!

Add a couple of Marine Corps (or Army, etc.) running cadences to your ipod. When you need to kick it up a notch during a walk or jog, turn on a cadence. This helps me stay on tempo, and if you turn up the volume, you can hear their footsteps keeping time. Makes me feel like I'm running with a team. Plus, most of the cadences are short, at 1-2 minutes, which works perfectly for me (a beginning runner).

Define "Special Occasion" On Paper

Do you let yourself splurge a little when dining out on special occasions? If so, do you find the definition for "special" can vary wildly, from your 10-year anniversary to birthdays to... payday? If so, write down your definition for "Special Occasion" on a piece of paper and put it in your purse or car, then refer to that list when on your way to dinner out. If your occasion doesn't fit, don't splurge. This can keep you from splurging just because you got paid or because friends are in town.

Freeze Your Water Bottle

Here in Las Vegas, temps max out at around 115 in the summer, but stay above 100 for most of June-September. To keep cool and hydrated during my summertime walks, I take a completely frozen bottle of water with me. It starts melting within about 5 minutes, so I have water available to drink when I need it. It continues to melt throughout my hour-long walk, giving me water continuously. And bonus, it cools down my hands and keeps the heat-induced swelling to a minimum!
