I CAN DO 20 MINUTES, BUT 60 MINUTES IS TOO LONG!

On the days I do cardio only at the gym, my routine is to do 60 minutes. I dread it because it seems so long. Lately rather than stay on one piece of equipment for the entire time, I have spent 20 on the elliptical, 20 on the treadmill and 20 on the bike. It goes so much faster and before I've had time to think about how much longer I have to go, I'm done. WOOHOO!

Two Birds with One Stone

Keeping your life organized helps you stay on track w/ other things like exercise & eating healthy. Organize a room in your house or a cluttered garage. By doing this, you'll get a nice workout without realizing it & also get some things done around your house which will make you feel accomplished!

Distance not time!

I'm training for my first 5k--my goal is reaching that distance every time I'm on the treadmill not completing it within a certain amount of time. I know that as my training progresses the time will start decreasing. BUT hitting that goal of completing a 5k each time I train reassures me that I CAN complete my first 5k in May! So next time focus on hitting your DISTANCE goal and NOT put your focus on the time!

Motivation from others

I like to surround myself in motivation, with other people that are in the same boat as me, trying to lose weight. It gets hard at work when others aren't dieting.. It is easier for me to stick to it if I know someone else is counting on me. If you don't have anyone in your 'real life' who is dieting, Spark is a great way to join in on teams, etc, that will help boost your motivation and to have someone in your cheering section!! emoticon

What I can't live without

SPRAY BUTTER
If you can't live without butter on veggies, potatoes, toast, and what not, try "I can't believe it's not Butter" spray butter. I have used this for years, it is a staple in my house. It has 0 calories, 0 fat, 0 carbs AND tastes like butter!

Don't Wait Until You "Feel Like It."

When I was in college, I went to the personal counseling office because I was feeling really overwhelmed, and my counselor told me something about procrastination that will always stick with me: "Don't wait until you "feel like" doing something, because chances are good you'll never "feel like" doing it."

Eating from a measuring cup

This might sound silly, but sometimes when I am really tracking my portions, I will eat food from a measuring cup. I do this with cottage cheese, for instance, or even frozen yogurt. It allows me to know exactly how much I am eating, and it helps that the measuring cup is smaller than a bowl.
