The Red Light Boogie

A friend of mine keeps an 80's dance mix CD in his car. Whenever he's stopped at a red light, he puts the CD on and does isometrics on his butt. Not only does he have a great tush, but he really doesn't mind red lights or traffic snarl ups anymore!

Buffalo Exchange

While cleaning out the closets, or looking for clothes for your new size, consider Buffalo Exchange. You can trade in your old, clean clothes for a store credit or cash. One friend who recently lost 80 pounds kept recycling three pairs of jeans. As she lost a size, she took back three pairs and picked up three pairs in her new size.

It's also a great way to clean out the closet.

Also check out Play It Again for buying and selling used sports equipment.

Donors Choose Org

Hi - if you every need a boost - go to Donorschoose.org. This is a site for teachers to post the needs for their classrooms... everything from Dr. Seuss to microscopes. I try to visit this site every payday - even if it's only a couple of dollars. Knowing that I'm improving classrooms in America makes me feel like a million. And the teachers always send the best thank you notes.

For your hand washables.

For my hand washables, I use Suave baby shampoo instead of Woolite. It's so much cheaper, has the same gentleness on the fabric and smells great!

DIY

A couple of years ago, I started making all of my laundry soap, dish soap and fabric softener. It costs pennies to make, works just as well and keeps all of that nasty packaging out of the trash. I've even made my own sugar scrub for a treat in the shower! There are lots of recipes for homemade products online - it's really worth the search ♥

Added feature to your walks

If you want to shake up your walks, after a mile or two, turn around and walk backwards. Make sure you're on level ground and no breaks in pavement or obstacles before you turn. I find that I use different muscles and breaks up the walk.

Creative walking at work...

We have three print stations in our office. I changed my computer setting to print from the machine furthest from my cubicle - and early in the day, before most other people arrive, I skip, hop, jog or walk backwards to and from the print station. Every little it helps - and this just wakes me up during my shift. ♥

Soup broth for vegetarians.

Need a quick bowl of soup for a vegetarian? Try really cheap beer. One can of cheap beer equals about one bowl of soup. Add veggies, blend with tofu or cheese, throw in some fresh herbs. The alcohol cooks out of the 'broth' but the grain flavor remains. Remember, the cheaper the brand, the better the broth. I buy it when it's on sale and just store it in the cupboard for a quick lunch.

I'm not exactly what I ought to be,

But thank the Universe, I'm not what I used to be!
